In Australia mainstream media has remarked that no apologies have been made despite 18 thousand innocent people being killed. Putin's accusation that NATO has 'imperialist ambitions' indicates he's rankled by NATO's declaration of a security strategy, as well as, Finland and Sweden's joining NATO.
I feel that was a way to make a statement to deter attacks by saying they saw it as a threat, but did not see China as an enemy, and wanting to keep open communications with Russia. Mainly because they have political prisoners whose lives are at stake.
A pity Finland and Sweden had to capitulate to unwelcome demands in order to pave the way for entry into NATO. But good to learn the U.S. will have a permanent base in Poland; also France and Germany, following the G7 meeting, will supply more weapons to Ukraine. Unfortunately, that is what happens in war in that concessions must be made for the greater good. Imagine it Turkey was Russia, and Finland and Sweden was Ukraine—that is basically what has happened.
