Over the past seven months, I have read some harrowing accounts of people who have lost everything, who have survived or witnessed horrific war crimes, where people have been tortured, some even buried alive.
As we've said for months, the UN, EU, and NATO are nothing more than initials on paper, which Putin knows and is definitely exploiting. The very fact that Russia is still allowed to participate on any Council is ridiculous, and automatically ensures that nothing meaningful will get passed. I remain ashamed of the response from the US, but with our current political shenanigans going on, I am not surprised that we have not taken a stronger stance to shut Russia/Putin down. Thank you, EL, for all you are doing to document the war, and keep us posted on the actions going on.
E-L - I couldn't agree more about the UN having no credibility while Russia remains a permanent member of the UN Security Council, with the right to veto any action against them, while it violates the UN Charter itself AND international law
M.M., the point you have made is what I was thinking while reading today's update. Putin will be comforted by this situation and outrageously it's a'Security' Council.
EL it is so hard to comment, so I can only simply say thank you for your efforts in documenting this and informing us so regularly of this parlous and seemingly endless situation.
