Your blog on this unlawful war is precise and truthful and says exactly what we need to hear. Russia sending Sergel Lavrov as a negotiator who obviously has no intention of peace talks is a mockery of everyone's time and patience. He appears to be a man of stature and great importance but like all of the others Putin has appointed he's just a puppet. He had the audacity to fiddle with something throughout the talks, his body language said everything, like a sulking bored child who just wanted to get down from the table. Russia has demands that no sane person would contemplate and the Ukrainians will not bow to this. The brave people and their President will fight on for their freedom at all costs.

He is a bully, cut from the same bombastic cloth as his terrible master, or, as you say ADL, his puppet master.

TriciaH2K Lavrov is old school KGB up through the ranks, the way he appears to "Perform" in these situations seems somewhat old fashioned today. Russia is just about the only place where such "Old Guard" still work/function with one or two exceptions. I suspect younger men are moulded in their same image.

Thank you EL, your summary of today's news is most appreciated. It appears to me Putin is not negotiating - he is demanding total surrender, to which Kelensky has previously answered, "NEVER". And so the killing will continue because there will not be a peaceful resolution.

Agree with everything you wrote @EL! I appreciate your dedication, your ability to sift through the barrage of news, and your bullet points. It makes it easier to understand the ins and outs of what’s going on. Thank you!

I think Macron is correct in that there won’t be an imminent ceasefire. Not sure what it will take to get Putin to legitimately negotiate—there’s no way he can save face unless Ukraine acquiesces in some way, and I don’t see that happening.

Thank you EL for another very informative post which must take considerable time and personal pain and anxiety to write up. This is such a hopeless situation because there is no possibility of negotiating the way out of this debacle, as on the aggressor side there is a lack of will and good faith. It seems to me that the so called Peace talks are a complete waste of time, in particular because Putin’s henchman his Defence Minister is participating on behalf of Russia. His attitude throughout the several months since this has been building in plain sight of the west has been consistently bellicose, disparaging, arrogant and inhumane. He holds NATO , EU and the allies in contempt. Now holding talks is just delaying tactics and window dressing which deceives nobody.

I agree that the talks are a process of going through the motions of appearing to seek a ceasefire. The aggressor does not seem to want a ceasefire unless all their terms are met which amounts to a virtual surrender and occupation.

I agree, and also think that will not happen unless something catastrophic happens to the Ukrainian leaders, they have been supportive and steadfast throughout.
