EL, it is amazing how you can cover the many aspects of conflict. It has been apparent from the outset that Russia would use gas supply to leverage support and weaken the Ukrainian counter offensive. Hungary's sympathy for Russia so far, would only make involvement in an EU army to help Ukrainian troops suspect.
