Putin Admits To Reclaiming Ukraine And Questions The Legitimacy Of Lithuania As a Sovereign State
Three EU members oppose Ukraine's candidate status
When Mariupol was under siege, the greatest fear was that Russia would take to soldiers and then use them as political pawns for propaganda. That has now happened as two British men who had moved to Ukraine and who served in the UA army have been sentenced to death for allegedly being mercenaries.
While some aren’t too worried about this as they can appeal the conviction, one must remember this is a makeshift court that no one recognises (bar Russia) therefore, it makes diplomatic negotiations difficult or near impossible. However, we expected this from Russia, and there are more that are likely in the same position, but being British (the other prisoner is Moroccan) makes them more valuable as a propaganda tool.
The sentence could be reduced to 25 years in prison, but in order to negotiate, the UK must recognise the court. The self-governed breakaway region is not recognised by any state except Russia, and to recognise it would give Russia status and that they make a claim that it is part of the Russian Federation.
People are wondering how did it get to this, where Russia breaks the rules and makes them upas they go along and no one can or will do anything about it. The only way to stop this tyranny is to defeat the aggressor and then punish them at an international tribunal.
They are protected under international law, but we have seen Russia ignore multitudes of treaties and pacts they have signed, and who will punish them? They are a permanent member of the UN Security Council and hold a veto, so no action can be taken against them under the present regulations. That makes the UN a sham, and unfit for purpose if a member of the UN Security Council can carry out war crimes and sham trials with the death penalty without being removed or suspended.
Putin has now openly admitted his aims to reclaim Ukraine and reform the USSR, therefore, surely the global leaders need to act rather than wait to see if he does it? The fact that he is turning the occupied parts of Ukraine into a deferral Russian district tells you have fats he is moving. Don’t forget that Russia annexed Crimea in less than a month due to pro-Russians in Ukraine assisting him as well as a corrupt president.
More worrying is that the Russian Duma has drafted legislation claiming that Lithuania had no legal right to declare themselves as a sovereign state and leave the USSR.
Yevgeny Fyodorov introduced the bill into the State Duma ‘On Recognition of Independence of the Republic of Lithuania.’ which he had questioned before in 2015, claiming that their independence was illegal as it was passed by an unconstitutional body, no referendum, and violated the USSR Constitution (which is now extinct). While Gorbachav recognised the decree back in 1991, this propaganda will be fed to the Russians to justify Putin’s war and to reclaim all the former Soviet states.
Day 107 (10 June)
Putin has admitted that his aim is to reunite Ukraine under the Russian Federation, thus stating his reasons for the invasion (denazify Ukraine) was untrue. Should they succeed in taking Donbas, then other cities, especially Kyiv will be next.
The EU have been supportive of Ukraine’s battle to defend itself, and the upcoming summit on 23-24 June will see the member states discuss Ukraine and Moldova’s candidate status.
Three countries have opposed Ukraine to have candidate status and have not been named. We can guess France is one because Macron has publicly admitted that he doesn’t back the proposal, and the others we can deduce are sidekick Germany, and possibly Putin puppet, Hungary.
Seven countries have stated they would would prefer to offer Ukraine an alternative rather than candidate status. That is not on the cards because no such entity exists and it would do little to assist Ukraine. In some ways, one can consider these fence sitters a little traitorous because they are afraid to publicly state this knowing they will be criticized. At least Macron has the decency to air his stupidity.
Russia is planning to create a new district with the newly annexed regions in Ukraine. These include Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia so far. By planting Russian administrators in the areas so quickly, it would make it difficult for Ukraine to retake the regions. From this, it is clear that Russia under Putin wishes to take the whole of Ukraine, bit by bit, therefore, no land should be ceded. This ties in with Putin claiming to be like Peter the Great, who is ‘taking back what is theirs’ so to speak.
Zelenskyy will be invited to the NATO summit in Malta on 28-29 June 2022.
The EU will meet to discuss and implement a 10-point plan to help Ukraine which includes humanitarian support, in terms of housing and also to prevent human trafficking.
The Russian Dumas (a chamber within parliament) has issued draft legislation questioning the validity of Lithuania as a sovereign state and if their departure from the former USSR was in fact legal.
This looks like an attempt to claim that Lithuania’s declaration of independence is illegitimate. As they were the first country to declare independence from the USSR on 11 March 1990, this appears to be a declaration that the all the former Soviet states actually still belong to Russia, and that Putin has a right to reclaim them all.
Two men were arrested in Odesa after it was discovered they had photos of Ukrainian checkpoints on their phones. They are suspected of betraying Ukraine by giving Russians information on the Ukrainian military.
Ukraine is now dependent on the West to provide weapons, and usually a government would not release such information unless it was to encourage other countries to send assistance.
At the Copenhagen Democracy Summit, Roberta Metsola European Union’s parliament president) reaffirmed that the parliament supports Ukraine’s bid for candidate status. Unfortunately, it is still down the member states to vote and not the parliament itself. The candidate status may come with conditions rather than the traditional route of ascension talks.
Kyiv City Council cancels a document from 1147 which founded Moscow. Technically, as of 7 June 2022, Moscow no longer exists!
Ben Wallace, the UK Defence Secretary has made an unannounced two day visit to Ukraine to speak to Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian Defence Minister (Reznikov). They will discuss how to support Ukraine and also how to deal with the Donetsk pseudo court that has passed the death sentence to three captured soldiers claiming they were mercenaries. Wallace was presented with a set of framed stamps depicting the Moskva being sunk by the Ukrainians.
The UN Human Rights Office have condemned the Russian verdict passing the death penalty, but what will they do about it? Merely stating the obvious, that it is a breach of international law as the men were soldiers and were protected as prisoners of war isn’t going to help them. Even Amnesty International don’t seem to have any ideas on how to deal with the issue apart from publicly condemning it.
The grain blockade continues as Russian state television shows a video of Russia stealing grain from Luhansk, and then sending it by train to a port to be exported.
Ukraine has established a council on ‘de-Russification and de-communisation’. This is to erase Russian names and buildings from Ukraine and members of the council will include historians, publishers, and local councils to discuss how Ukraine should move forward.
A Russian TV channel called RT France has gone to the European courts to fight for the right to broadcast in the RU. They were banned as part of the EU sanctions and to stop the spread of disinformation and propaganda.
Estonia has summoned the Russian ambassador to explain Putin’s claim that his aim is to retake all the former Soviet states. Putin mentions retaking Narva, which is now part of Estonia, even though Estonia is a member of NATO and the EU.
Cholera is likely to cause many deaths in Mariupol as there is no clean water and no one has cleaned up the dead bodies in the city which are causing diseases. It looks like Russia doesn’t care about Mariupol as they only wanted the land to create the land bridge between Crimea and the rest of Ukraine and into Europe.
What is so gobsmacking staggering about this is the direct parallel to the leadup to WWII. The West continues to pretend that it is dealing with anything other than a madman drunk on power and possibly additionally reckless due to drug treatments for lethal illness.
My country has infuriated me more times than I can count in the last five years or so, and certainly in the last two years, but the one thing I am grateful to cling to is the PM's unwavering support for stopping Putin sooner rather than later from the beginning.
You know, whenever we speak of WWII and how easily and quickly Hitler rolled over France, Belgium, The Netherlands, et al., the French get terribly huffy.
But, demme, here we are again, with Britain the only man standing, as it was in 1940, willing to face the truth (even if half the War Cabinet at the time had to be dragged by its fingernails).
It is bad enough the thing itself, but having to realise again that there is, indeed, nothing new under the sun and as a species we remain unteachable . . . that almost hurts more. TC
I see you have already been thanked and praised, but it deserves to be repeated infintismally because much has been made of the idea of 'relevance' in regards the rogue royals; a concept which is extremely pertinent in this situation because world peace is being jeopardised. I am taking a portion of this article because intellectually, I need to break it down to digest it. June 10
Russia takes soldiers and use as political pawn- mercenaries propaganda tool. Diplomatic negotiations "difficult to near impossible".
"... in order to negotiate (the court of the self-proclaimed DPR) has to be recognised." "And to recognise it would give Russia status" - "that it is part of a Russian Federation".

On behalf of followers like myself who care and interested, but need to be helped grasp realities. Also thank you for respecting us by giving us historical background and academic arguments, anaysis and evaluation.
