“A terrible humanitarian catastrophe has developed”

It’s nothing to do with them then? I get this at work, “This has been broken” rather than “ I have broken this”

As for NATO, they should perhaps be measured against their own “NATOs strategic concept 2010”

“Security through Crisis Management

20.Crises and conflicts beyond NATO’s borders can pose a direct threat to the security of Alliance territory and populations. NATO will therefore engage, where possible and when necessary, to prevent crises, manage crises, stabilize post-conflict situations and support reconstruction………….

And

23.Where conflict prevention proves unsuccessful, NATO will be prepared and capable to manage ongoing hostilities. NATO has unique conflict management capacities, including the unparalleled capability to deploy and sustain robust military forces in the field. NATO-led operations have demonstrated the indispensable contribution the Alliance can make to international conflict management efforts.”

Nice words, but words on their own don’t bring back lives, rebuild homes or stop tyranny.

I am absolutely disgusted that a foreign power can go into Mariupol, kill its inhabitants and transport any remaining, out of their own country to be used as propaganda, bargaining chips or hostages. And governments just watch and send first aid kits.

The Ukrainians did not surrender, but it makes the Turkish spiel on an agreement being close seem unlikely and disingenuous. You do not go in with an offer of genuine peace talks and force a city to surrender within hours.

When will this nightmare end and how will it end? I wonder this every day. The people of Ukraine do not want to be part of Russia. As the Australian Ambassador to Ukraine said a few weeks ago at the Press Club briefing, Ukraine wants no part of Russia, they do not speak their language, they do not share their culture nor do they share their beliefs. What is all this bloodshed and bombing going to prove? Russia is not wanted in Ukraine, it is as simple as that. There will never be peace there even if, God forbid, Russia is successful.

I find the fact that Israel still remains neutral to be shocking. I can't believe it but it appears that Israel has forgotten what Hitler did in the '30's and '40's. There are reports Ukrainians are being rounded up by Russians and taken to "camps".
