Xi Welcomes 'Dear Friend' Putin To China
The Belt and Road Summit in China also sees Orban meet with Putin
While the world is focused on the war in the Middle East, and critics point fingers at anyone that chooses a side. In the Far East, Putin has travelled safely to China to meet with various world leaders that appear to support Russia. Orban of Hungary was photographed with Putin, and it was reported that they talked of retaining business links. This was quickly countered the next day when Hungary claimed talks were to push for peace in Ukraine.
Hungary is the only NATO and EU country to attend the summit, and Hungary has not hidden its support for Russia, but blatantly parades it knowing that neither the EU or NATO have the guts to do anything about their membership of the alliances.
Zelenskyy and Ukraine are still campaigning for more weapons, but the slow drip feed of weapons is not enough, and now that Russia knows that ammunition is running low, they could arrange a coordinated attack while Ukraine awaits more weapons.
With the US currently without a Speaker in the House of Representatives, that means any aid to Ukraine will be stalled as bills won’t be passed. The war, as we said is dependent on the politics of the allied countries and how they choose to act. Will it be too late again? The war in the Middle East is a good distraction as aid is diverted to the Gaza Strip and world leaders are focused on what is happening there.
Ukrainian refugees are now having to accept they may have to settle in their host countries, and Germany is seeking ways to make it easier for them to find employment. In the UK, there are concerns many will be homeless, even though there are domestic homeless issues and a high number of asylum seekers all vying for accommodation. This is a humanitarian crisis that Russia has created and is ongoing until Ukraine has undergone reconstruction. That will take decades at least and only if funding is found.
Day 601 (17 Oct)
Ukraine uses ATACMS long-range missiles supplied by the US. A small amount were supplied, thought to be about 20, and have proved to be accurate as the target was a Russian military base.
Leopard tanks that have been damaged are being repaired in Lithuania in collaboration with Germany.
The EU has greenlit €50 billion worth of aid to Ukraine to assist with reconstruction and modernisation of the country.
Orban met with Putin on the first day of the Belt and Road summit, where ongoing business relationships were discussed.
Russian relations with many European countries are maintained and developed. One of these countries is Hungary. (Putin)

Reports claim that Russia has been recruiting Serbs to join the Russian army to boost army figures.
Ukraine attacked a Russian military camp near Postoyalye Dvory, and the Khalino military airfield where about 3000 Russian soldiers were killed and military equipment was destroyed.
Putin states that the US supplying ATACMS to Ukraine was a mistake, and sees the missiles as am ‘additional threat’.
Putin meets with Xi Jinping, who calls Putin a ‘dear friend’. At the summit, several European representatives walked out when Putin began to speak, including the French delegate.

Russia opens a third prison in Crimea for civilian hostages and political prisoners that were taken from Ukraine.
Hungary claims that Orban’s meeting with Putin was about talking about peace and the end of Russian aggression according to Orban’s chief of staff after backlash when reports of Orban discussing business with Putin were released.
There is an attempt to halt all Ukrainian customs as two men were fined for singing a Ukrainian patriotic song in occupied Crimea.
