Third Anniversary Of The Invasion Of Ukraine
Zelenskyy gets thrown out of the White House after a heated exchange with Trump and Vance
A week has passed since the appalling scenes at the White House where the Trump administration had invited Zelenskyy to discuss matters and to sign the minerals deal. What the world witnessed is Trump and Vance ganging up on Zelenskyy, accusing him of starting the war, accusing him of being ungrateful and not thanking them, resulting in Zelenskyy being thrown out of the White House.
In short, Trump was forcing Ukraine to sign the deal or no more weapons. The deal didn’t include any security guarantees either. While some might say if the Americans have an interest in the minerals they would send troops to protect them, it looks more like the Americans would take a 50% profit of what was mined instead.
The world watched as the press broadcasted the meeting in the Oval Office live around the world, and Europe responded with an emergency summit. They finally accepted that the US cannot be relied upon as an ally, with one German politician saying he didn’t think they would have to defend Ukraine from the US.
According to reports, prior to the meeting it had already being decided that the Trump administration would halt any deliveries of military equipment to Ukraine. Several days later, the US decided to release the news that they would no longer share military intelligence with Ukraine, followed by Maxar (satellite company in the US) who have said they have been ordered to stop supplying satellite images to Ukraine. Military intelligence is crucial for the Ukrainians and should be supplied regardless of politics, and from this we can see the shift in foreign policy with the current US administration
All the above only benefit Russia, and so when world politicians claim that Trump is a Russian asset, the evidence speaks for itself. Earlier in the week, Macron (France) and Starmer (UK) visited the White House, and both had to correct Trump when he said the US wants to be be repaid for all the money spent in Ukraine, and that Europe wants its money back too.
Macron stopped him and corrected him, stating that Ukraine doesn’t have to pay back any money, and explained the loans are backed by frozen Russian assets. He clarified, Ukraine doesn’t have to pay back the loans as the money will come from the frozen Russian assets. Trump could only reply, ‘If you want to believe him, that’s okay by me.’ Americans should be concerned their president doesn’t even understand how the G7 loan scheme works, and had to have the French president to explain it to him.
A few days later, the same happened with Starmer, who stopped him and corrected him by stating the money given to Ukraine was gifted and Ukraine doesn’t have to pay it back. Trump went silent, after demanding that the US wants all of its money back, and claiming that the UK is doing the same.
After the 28 February 2025 White House debacle, world leaders reaffirmed their support for Ukraine. Only Hungary, Russia, and Slovakia praised Trump. Recently (25 Feb) , the US voted with Russia, against a UN resolution to state that the Russian aggressors should leave Ukraine. The US also opposed a European-drafted resolution condemning Moscow's actions and supporting Ukraine's territorial integrity, and voted with Russia, North Korea and Belarus. A change of government marks a stark change in foreign policy and how the US now views territorial integrity. Trump believes that Ukraine should cede the 20% of the land that is occupied for peace, but Russia refuses any talk of peacekeeping forces in any situation
We should also look at the support the US has given, many were out dated machinery which would have been dismantled, which then allowed the army to purchase new equipment. So, while US support has been necessary, the current government is keen to remove US troops from Europe, with a view to reducing any investment or involvement in NATO. As far as they are concerned, what happens in Europe is of no concern to the US, signalling that if Russia does invade other countries, then the US even under Article 5 won’t come to their aid.
In less than two months, the world has been turned upside down and the security of the world is in jeopardy as the US sides with Russia. The Ukrainians who thought Trump would help them are finally understanding that the property businessman is trying to do a deal to end the war on his terms. Trump wants Zelenskyy to beg, but the man has been begging for 3 years already, and has been humble as much as possible.
The deal that Trump offered him was to do as he says or weapons and aid would cease, yet that was already happening. What happened in the White House that day was disgraceful and while some were afraid to voice their opinions publicly for fear of losing their jobs, many Americans were ashamed by their president and vice-president. Many say it was orchestrated as how often has a VP sat in on meetings and taken the lead? It looked like a rehearsed double act with Trump and Vance, while others looked around with their hands covering their faces. Embarrassed, ashamed, or simply disbelief that Trump and Vance could be so rude and disrespectful to a guest in public?
It’s hard to keep up with US foreign policy. One minute Trump says he believes Russia wants peace, then the next minute when Russia has bombed Ukraine again he threatens sanctions (which he hadn’t before after imposing them on Canada and Mexico). Now we have China thrown into the mix, where the US has imposed tariffs and China responded and said there were prepared for war with the US be it tariff or otherwise.
Is this what Americans voted for, for a leader to alienate other countries (threatening to take Greenland and Canada under the guise of international safety when he doesn’t even understand how the G7 works)? Europe has responded quickly with a $1trillion being pledged for Ukrainian defences to match the US. The greatest fear is that the US becomes a Russian ally, for that would destabilise the world.
What we have seen in the last few days from the US is a gift to Russia—no more US weapons or aid, no US intelligence, no peacekeeping troops, removal of US troops in Europe, the US voting with Russia, and Belarus on UN resolutions and a peace plan that includes Russia keeping the Ukrainian territory they have invaded. It’s hard not to see this as a betrayal, and to consider Trump in Putin’s pocket.
The question is now that the US has halted all assistance to Ukraine, can it continue to defend itself with the help of Europe? Also, we should consider why the US made it publicly known they were halting all assistance because they could have done it quietly, but seemed to want the world to know that they are quietly assisting Russia by blackmailing Ukraine. Is this ‘making America great again’ going too far by trying to extort a country at war in exchange for some weapons, or to use that as payment for weapons already supplied by the previous government?
Day 1096 (24 Feb ~ 3rd anniversary of the full invasion of Ukraine by Russia)
Various leaders from Europe arrive in Kyiv as a show of solidarity. Zelenskyy opens a Kyiv summit where he thanks all for their support, but does not mention the minerals deal. He says there needs to be full security guarantees and a full exchange of POW to show trust. There was no US representation at this summit even though some other countries attended via video link.
Reports claim that revised terms of a mineral deal with Ukraine has been reached (we later find out that it was not). The agreement was to enable Ukraine to continue to fight on.
Zelenskyy disputes Trumps alleged $500 billion request of repayment, citing $100 billion in aid being sent in reference to repayment with the minerals deal.
Trump claims that Zelenskyy is an illegitimate leader and has no place in signed deals or to take part in peace talks
.
Macron visits Trump at the White House, the first world leader to do so since Trump took office. During a joint conference in the Oval Office, Macron had to correct Trump on the G7 loans, and had to school him on how they work, and that Ukraine does not pay back the money, but that the loans are backed by frozen Russian assets. Americans should be worried their leader doesn’t understand how G7 loans work and frozen assets and how they are used
.
Macron made a point that peace must not mean a surrender of Ukraine during his visit to the White House.
Sweden announced a transfer of $113 million worth of air defence systems to Ukraine.
The UK will impose travel bans on individuals who have ties to the Russian state or who have built their wealth through Kremlin connections in a bid to tighten sanctions.
Switzerland has said it could offer 200 troops should a peacekeeping force if requested in Ukraine. The other countries that have propose and peacekeeping troops include the UK and France to date.
Kaja Kallas for the EU is to visit Rubio in the US to discuss peace talks for Ukraine. She suggested that messages coming out of the US appeared, ‘that the Russian narrative is very strongly represented.’
The UN general assembly approved a Ukrainian resolution condemning the Russian full scale of invasion with 93 countries voting in favourite and 18 against. The countries that voted against the resolution included the US, Israel, Hungary, Russia, and Belarus. All EU states except for Hungary supported the resolution.
The other resolution drafted to seek an end to a conflict ended up with the UK, France and Ukraine abstaining as the US refused to criticise Russia. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c7435pnle0go
Serbian president Aleksander Vucic said that he was tired when he backed the UN resolution introduced by Ukraine and apologised to the citizens of Serbia.
The Slovakian representative at the UN backed the UN resolution condemning Russian aggression against Ukraine. The party has called on Fico to apologise and to investigate who authorise the representative to vote in this manner.
Day 1097 (25 Feb)
Putin offers the US a rare minerals deal including minerals in stolen Ukrainian territory. Like the grain, Russia is prepared to sell stolen goods. Putin calls them ‘new Russian territories', and is seeking foreign partners to ‘the historical territories returned to the Russian Federation’. He will never leave these areas unless forced to by a stronger army.
Russian decolonisation continues where a monument to Peter the Great was dismantled in Poltava.
The Ukrainian parliament has voted to support a resolution stating that Zelenskyy's mandate as president will continue until the end of the war. Thus, this legitimises Zelenskyy’s position as president against any accusations from Trump or Putin that he is not a legitimate leader.
Ukraine and Russia reach a deal to evacuate Kursk residents through Belarus and other parts of the country.
The UK will use funding for foreign aid to be diverted to the defence budge to 2.5% of the GDPt, the largest amount since the Cold War.
In the German elections, the CDU Party led by Friedrich Merz was good news for Ukraine as it means continued support for Ukraine.
North Korea is reported to have tested strategic cruise missiles as the country is ordered to be nuclear ready.
Russia attempted to cross the Russian Ukrainian border in Sumy near the village of Novenke but were forced back into Russia.
Day 1098 (26 Feb)
In a press conference, Zelenskyy reiterates that there is no peace deal without security guarantees, and for the Ukrainian army in order to have sufficient peace keeping troops in place. This comes ahead of his meeting with Trump in 28 February 2025.
Ukraine liberate of the village of Kotlyne in Pokrovsk. While this is good news, it means liberating Ukraine at this rate will take decades, and in the grand scheme of things without US support, the Ukrainians will have fewer resources.
The Ukraine minerals deal does not contain security guarantees as Ukraine has wanted. Zelenskyy says he will sign the deal as a step to further negotiations.
Trump has said that Ukraine will not be allowed to join NATO as part of any future piece agreements with Russia.
The US has declined to sign a statement from the WTO that condemned Russian aggression. The statement was proposed during the Ukrainian trade policy review a mid concern surrounding the consequences of the war and the destruction of Ukraine naming Russia as the aggressor. It appears that current American foreign policy refuses to acknowledge Russia as an aggressor.
Day 1099 (27 Feb)
Starmer visits Trump at the White House to discuss the situation in Ukraine and to try and persuade him to release weapons to Ukraine.
Trump again incorrectly states that the US and the UK want the money back from Ukraine during a press conference, and Starmer stops him and corrects him saying the money was gifted and Ukraine does not have to pay back the money.
Discussions on future peacekeeping forces have been discussed, with reference to patrolling the air and see space in particular. Ukraine is keen to discuss this with the allies to see what deployment they can offer to ensure peace and security in Ukraine.
In a press conference, when asked why he called Zelenskyy dictator without elections, Trump claimed that he can't believe that he said that even though it's in black-and-white and clearly said on video during a press conference. This gives us an indication that Trump can say one thing one minute and another the next and with no consistency it creates an imbalance and instability in world peace.
Zelensky met with the Irish prime minister Micheal Martin at Shannon International Airport in County Clare, Ireland on his way to Washington.
Russia has claimed to recaptured the village of Sudzha in Kursk.
The Ukraine minerals deal does not contain security guarantees as Ukraine has wanted. Zelenskyy says he will sign the deal as a step to further negotiations.
Russian troops continue to try and take Novopavlivka in 3eastern Donetsk.
In Ukraine, the government will suspend issuing permits for journalist and artists to travel aboard due to the fact that some men have used their permits to stay abroad longer than permitted.

BILATERAL AGREEMENT ESTABLISHING TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR A RECONSTRUCTION INVESTMENT FUND
WHEREAS the United States of America has provided significant financial and material support to Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022;
WHEREAS the American people desire to invest alongside Ukraine in a free, sovereign and secure Ukraine;
WHEREAS the United States of America and Ukraine desire a lasting peace in Ukraine and a durable partnership between their two peoples and governments;
WHEREAS the United States of America and Ukraine recognize the contribution that Ukraine has made to strengthening international peace and security by voluntarily abandoning the world's third largest arsenal of nuclear weapons;
WHEREAS the United States of America and Ukraine wish to ensure that those States and other persons that have acted adversely to Ukraine in the conflict do not benefit from the reconstruction of Ukraine following a lasting peace;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Government of the United States of America and the Government of Ukraine (each, a “Participant”) hereby enter into this Bilateral Agreement Establishing Terms and Conditions for a Reconstruction Investment Fund to deepen the partnership between the United States of America and Ukraine, as set forth herein.
In talks with Russia, Trump repeats his Afghanistan playbook
1. The Governments of Ukraine and the United States of America, with the aim of achieving lasting peace in Ukraine, intend to establish a Reconstruction Investment Fund (Fund), partnering in the Fund through joint ownership, to be further defined in the Fund Agreement. Joint ownership will take into consideration the actual contributions of the Participants as defined in Sections 3 and 4. The Fund will be jointly managed by representatives of the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United States of America. More detailed terms pertaining to the Fund’s governance and operation will be set forth in a subsequent agreement (the Fund Agreement) to be negotiated promptly after the conclusion of this Bilateral Agreement. The maximum percentage of ownership of the Fund’s equity and financial interests to be held by the Government of the United States of America and the decision-making authority of the representatives of the Government of the United States of America will be to the extent permissible under applicable United States laws.
Neither Participant will sell, transfer or otherwise dispose of, directly or indirectly, any portion of its interest in the Fund without the prior written consent of the other Participant.
2. The Fund will collect and reinvest revenues contributed to the Fund, minus expenses incurred by the Fund, and will earn income from the future monetization of all relevant Ukrainian Government-owned natural resource assets (whether owned directly or indirectly by the Ukrainian Government), as defined in Section 3
3. The Government of Ukraine will contribute to the Fund 50 percent of all revenues earned from the future monetization of all relevant Ukrainian Government-owned natural resource assets (whether owned directly or indirectly by the Ukrainian Government), defined as deposits of minerals, hydrocarbons, oil, natural gas, and other extractable materials, and other infrastructure relevant to natural resource assets (such as liquified natural gas terminals and port infrastructure) as agreed by both Participants, as may be further described in the Fund Agreement. For the avoidance of doubt, such future sources of revenues do not include the current sources of revenues which are already part of the general budget revenues of Ukraine. Timeline, scope and sustainability of contributions will be further defined in the Fund Agreement.
The Fund, in its sole discretion, may credit or return to the Government of Ukraine actual expenses incurred by the newly developed projects from which the Fund receives revenues.
Contributions made to the Fund will be reinvested at least annually in Ukraine to promote the safety, security and prosperity of Ukraine, to be further defined in the Fund Agreement. The Fund Agreement will also provide for future distributions.
Explainer: Did Trump lie about $350 billion aid to Ukraine, and does Kyiv have to repay it?
4. Subject to applicable United States law, the Government of the United States of America will maintain a long-term financial commitment to the development of a stable and economically prosperous Ukraine. Further contributions may be comprised of funds, financial instruments, and other tangible and intangible assets critical for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
5. The Fund's investment process will be designed so as to invest in projects in Ukraine and attract investments to increase the development, processing and monetization of all public and private Ukrainian assets including, but not limited to, deposits of minerals, hydrocarbons, oil, natural gas, and other extractable materials, infrastructure, ports, and state-owned enterprises as may be further described in the Fund Agreement. The Government of the United States of America and the Government of Ukraine intend that the investment process will lead to opportunities for distribution of additional funds and greater reinvestment, to ensure the sufficient supply of capital for the reconstruction of Ukraine as set out in the Fund Agreement.
The Participants reserve the right to take such action as necessary to protect and maximize the value of their economic interests in the Fund.
6. The Fund Agreement will include appropriate representations and warranties, including those necessary to ensure that any obligations the Government of Ukraine may have to third parties, or such obligations that it may undertake in the future, do not sell, convey, transfer pledge, or otherwise encumber the Government of Ukraine’s contributions to the Fund or the assets from which such contributions are derived, or the Fund’s disposition of funds.
In drafting the Fund Agreement, the Participants will strive to avoid conflicts with Ukraine’s obligations under its accession to the European Union or its obligations under arrangements with international financial institutions and other official creditors.
7. The Fund Agreement will provide, inter alia, an acknowledgment that both the Fund Agreement and the activities provided for therein are commercial in nature.
The Fund agreement shall be ratified by the Parliament of Ukraine according to the Law of Ukraine "On International Treaties of Ukraine."
Russia targets Ukraine’s supply lines in Kursk as both cling to gains ahead of peace talks
8. The Fund Agreement will pay particular attention to the control mechanisms that make it impossible to weaken, violate or circumvent sanctions and other restrictive measures.
9. The text of the Fund Agreement will be developed without delay by working groups chaired by authorized representatives of the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United States of America. Contact persons responsible for preparing the Fund Agreement on the basis of this Bilateral Agreement are: from the Government of the United States of America: the Department of the Treasury; from the Government of Ukraine: Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Economy.
10. This Bilateral Agreement and the Fund Agreement will constitute integral elements of the architecture of bilateral and multilateral agreements, as well as concrete steps to establish lasting peace, and to strengthen economic security resilience and reflect the objectives set forth in the preamble to this Bilateral Agreement.
The Government of the United States of America supports Ukraine’s efforts to obtain security guarantees needed to establish lasting peace. Participants will seek to identify any necessary steps to protect mutual investments, as defined in the Fund Agreement.
11. This Bilateral Agreement is binding and will be implemented by each Participant according to its domestic procedures. The Government of the United States of America and the Government of Ukraine commit to proceed forthwith to negotiate the Fund Agreement.
Day 1100 (28 Feb
)
A day marked in history where Zelenskyy arrived at the White House to sign the minerals deal, only for him to be ambushed and attacked by Vance and Trump. They accused him of starting the war, not wanting to end the war, and for being ungrateful and not thanking them. They also blamed him for refusing peace talks with Russia which is untrue. This led to Zelenskyy being thrown out of the White House and not signing the mineral deal, which did not contain any security guarantees.
Trump said it was up to Europe to offer security guarantees and not the USA, and said Zelenskyy was not ready for peace.
.
Across the world, politicians, world leaders and just about anyone was disgusted at how Zelenskyy was treated and messages of support flooded social media. Even Republican politicians voiced their disgust while others too afraid remained silent. Starmer of the UK was silent as he had just returned from a visit from the White House and was heavily criticised by the UK public for failing to show support to Zelenskyy. Reports claimed that AP and Reuters were denied access to the press conference but the Russian agency TASS was permitted.
After the heated exchange, Zelenskyy’s popularity rose in Ukraine as he stood his ground and spoke for, and represented the people of Ukraine. Criticisms of Trump and Vance increased with Vance being called a traitor when he was greeted by rows of protesters as he arrived at a ski resort over the weekend with his family.
Day 1101 (1 Mar)
Haltbakk Bunkers, a Norwegian fuel company has said they will no longer fuel provide fuel to US forces after Trump's disrespect and treatment of Zelenskyy the previous day. They have said ‘no fuel to Americans’ and encouraging other Europeans to do the same.
Day 1102 (2 Mar)
Starmer hosts an emergency defence summit after the Friday public argument in the White House, even though it had been planned before the Friday shouting match and attack in the White House. Not all European countries were invited as the Baltic states of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia were omitted (which was an error) but it showed that the UK supported Ukraine. Starmer later said he is not choosing between the US and Ukraine, but there may come a time when he has to.
A four point plan to work with Ukraine and defend the country from Russia is announced, and will be presented to the US. It has been stated that US support is necessary for the plan to work.
Von der Leyen said that it is important that we prepare for the worst.
After the meeting, Zelensky was invited to visit King Charles the third at his home in Sandringham. The photo call said it all, with Charles shaking hands with Zelenskyy at his private home.
Day 1103 (3 Mar)
Zelenskyy writes a letter to Trump after meeting with other European leaders. Trump says he appreciates the letter, but then goes on and suspends weapons, military intelligence and access to satellite images.
Trump criticises Zelensky for saying the end of the war is still very very far away. Even if the war ended tomorrow it would not mean the real end of the war for there are issues of war crime tribunals payments to restore and rebuild Ukraine and then there would be prisoner of war issues too, as well as liberating occupied regions of Ukraine and restoring them so yes, the end of the war is still very far away due to so much damage having been caused.
The US halts financing for new arm sales to Ukraine due to the strained US and Ukrainian relations, with Trump saying he is frustrated with Zelenskyy’s stance on peace negotiations.
An emergency meeting of NATO countries including Ukraine took place without US involvement, indicating that there are tensions between the Trump administration and NATO due to Trump's stance towards Russia
Day 1104 (4 Mar)
The US suspends all military aid to Ukraine and affects ammunition, vehicles and other equipment including weapons that are in transit. The message is no weapons unless Zelenskyy signs the deal. The officials statement says that "we are poor in reviewing our age to ensure that it is contributing to a solution.” This includes funding from the presidential drawdown authority ($3.85 billion or left in the funds), the state department foreign military financing (FMF), and the Ukraine security assistance initiative (USAI) where Ukraine receives money to be given directly to US manufacturers.
An interview, Vance has stated that Zelensky had a sense of entitlement and a lack of respect when he was at the White House and claimed that he showed a clear unwillingness to engage in the peace process. Again, Vance victim blames Zelenskyy for his behaviour.
Vance also criticised a peacekeeping force from '“some random country that has not fought a war in 30 or 40 years". Although he did not say UK or France, they are the only countries that have agreed to peacekeeping troops, and his words have angered many veterans in the UK as well as politicians.
Day 1105 (5 Mar)
The US stops all military intelligence for Ukraine. Initially it was to be selective, but now all information has been stopped. One can hardly believe that the US government are stopping this to decide whether they will or will not support Ukraine. This is all about money for Trump, and it’s not his money either. Millions will die without this intelligence including undercover operatives. One must also wonder why the US has decided to make this public because this will only encourage Russia to attack harder and hand them more cards at the negotiating table.
This move by the Americans only benefits the Russians, and thus, one can only assume that they are quietly supporting Russia through this action. The US has said that if Ukraine agrees to participate in US lead diplomatic efforts then the intelligence will be restored, but that basically means that Ukraine must agree to cede land to Russia, and never to join NATO which is not what Ukraine has ever agreed to. The loss of this kind of intelligence means that the Ukrainian armed forces cannot plan any effective use of long range missiles to target Russian oil depots ought to be warned of any incoming drones or missiles.
We have taken a step back and are pausing and reviewing all aspects of this relationship (Mike Walz NS Advisor)
Europe discusses $1 trillion defence package to aid Ukraine. So far 26 countries agree to this, and obviously Hungary and Slovakia who do not provide military aid to Ukraine are not part of the discussions.
In France, members of the parliament are calling Trump an agent of Russia and that Europe is a crucial point in history where American support is slipping and Ukraine could be abandoned leaving Russia strengthened.
Information from a Russian defector has stated that the US had decided to cut off all military support on 25th of February 2025 before Zelensky's meeting with Trump on 28th of February, and this was blamed retroactively on 4th March as the decision for the suspension of all aid. This suggests that Trump and Vance had set up Zelensky prior to his visit having made the decision already regardless of any negotiations made and agreed.
Reports state that Hungary has been stripped of voting rights in the EU for engaging in pro-Kremlin propaganda and anti-Ukrainian obstructivism.
Romania has declared two Russian diplomats persona grata, one is a Russian Embassy military attache and his deputy who have allegedly carried out activities that contravene international treaties on diplomatic relations.
Day 1106 (6 Mar)
A special EU summit dedicated to European Defence and Ukraine is held in Brussels, where Zelenskyy has been invited. He has said that Ukraine wants priest, but not at the price of giving up Ukraine. During the summit the 18 European and Canadian leaders pledge they would work to uphold any ceasefire in the Russian war on Ukraine even though Russia states that such a move would be considered involvement of NATO members.
$1 trillion has been agreed by the EU for defence spending. 26 of the member states endorsed this.
Norway has increased Ukrainian aid from three . two billion dollars to seven . seven billion dollars this year in response to the US withdrawing and suspending its aid to Ukraine.
Putin issued are warning to Macron following his speech in support of Ukraine and defending Europe, saying "…there are still people who want to go back to the times of Napoleon forgetting how it ended.” Macron addressed all the Europeans to tell them to prepare for war with Russia saying that Europe will not accept the capitulation of Ukraine to Russia under the guise of peace negotiations, and that Americans must decide whose side they are on.
We have to be united and determined to protect ourselves and wanted to believe that the US will be by our side, we have to be ready for this not to be the case. The moment cause for unprecedented decisions.(Macron)
Named the ‘coalition of the willing’ to help Ukraine so for 20 countries are interested in joining, where some would send troops and others would provide support in other ways. The plan is spearhead by the UK and France and seek to have a one month truce in the air, at sea and on energy infrastructure, but this has been rejected by Russia already. Citing that this can't be allowed because it would be considered direct, official and unveiled involvement of NATO members in the war against Russia.
Macron also was open to the suggestion of offering nuclear arsenal to its European partners as a means of protection. Other proposals included allowing countries to increase national deficit levels to allow for more defence spending, loan loans for defence investment, and for countries to be able to redirect funds for defence spending.
From this, I believe that Macron knows that Europe cannot rely on a Trump administration to come to their aid or to adhere to an Article 5 treaty, hence the move to boost defence spending now. Trump has already said that the US would not come to the aid of any NATO partner that had not paid their full share into NATO.
Day 1107 (7 Mar)
The US has now temporarily suspended Ukraine’s access to some satellite imagery, supplied by space technology company Maxar. The company said that the order has come from the US government (their customer). This raises the question as to why the US is deliberately handcuffing Ukraine, as they need the images to defend themselves and to plan offensive actions.
Of the countries in the EU, Italy, Slovakia and Hungary have rejected the calls for peacekeeping troops in Ukraine, and said they will not supply any troops.
In Kursk, the Russians have cut off the Ukrainian Bridgehead from the border by using soldiers from North Korea. This means that almost all roads to Sudzha all closed door or under fire.
Day 1108 (8 Mar)
Poland has said that all men of military age must undergo military training. The signs are that many European countries are preparing themselves for war. Prepare for the worst kind of scenario.
Russia launches another attack on Ukraine with 25 dead so far. With the loss of satellite images and military intelligence, the US has weakened Ukraine and enabled Russia.
It was shameful the way Trump and Vance formed a tag team to bully President Zelensky before ordering him out of the White House. Trump has indicated he would like to pull out of NATO. He has also said he is going to "get" Greenland "one way or another". I am of the opinion that he also envisions Canada as the U.S. 51st state so that he can obtain all our sovereign country's vast natural resources and, in his role as a real estate mogul, would like to build U.S. military installations in Greenland and Canada's north. (But what do I know; I'm merely a 92 year old trying to keep up with all troubling and very alarming current world events.)
It feels desperate to be so helpless in the face of an unhinged megalomaniac in the White House surrounded by politically ignorant sycophantic bullies eager to do his dirty work. It was an obvious set up with the MAGA supporting new member of the White Press pool (Glenn …) throwing the insulting hand grenade in about Zelensky not wearing a suit. Vance then picking it up and lobbing it on target. Not wearing a suit in the White House is insulting? How pathetic and petty and arrogant . Has it escaped the little men in charge of the White House asylum that Zelensky has been greeted with courtesy and hospitality by many heads of state across the world, including our British king - before and after that mauling? Do clothes maketh the man (probably Trump has never heard of that expression nor its provenance)? Has he ever heard of Ghandi? Nelson Mandela ? Many political and important figures including Churchill did not wear suits especially during wartime . There is a nasty, excluding undercurrent used by these (unfortunately) powerful MEN requiring an exclusive dress code whilst blowing up the world. Putin wears a suit of course so he will be welcome in the Oval Office.
How shameful of Trump and his henchmen to remove even Ukraine’s access to advance-warning and other US intelligence. Naturally Russia used that advantage and bombed and killed more civilians. Their blood is on Trump’s hands as much as it is on Putin’s. Shame on him. God help the people of the USA and God help the world. 🙏
