The Ukrainian Recovery Conference In The UK
The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant under threat of a Russia attack
Zelenskyy admits the counteroffensive is slow, but we expected that since most of the pledged weapons from the allies haven’t found their way to Ukraine yet. I do find it odd that the allies are prepared to openly state delivery dates during a war, as if they want Russia to know that they are helping, but not bending over backwards to help. The exceptions being Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, and the UK, where most have been invaded by Russia in the past and were former Soviet states. They know only too well of the real dangers of losing democracy in their lands.
Why is it taking so long? The allies have according to analysts procrastinated and they can’t deny that they have hesitated in providing tanks and jets to Ukraine. The apprehension continues as some countries don’t have the excess equipment to spare, and others still want a peaceful negotiation and don’t want to part with their weapons. Until Ukraine gets a complete arsenal of weapons that are the latest technology, this war will continue and more people will suffer and die.
The focus now shifts back to the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzia which has been on the danger list for nearly a year now, and still the IAEA prances around making statements that lead to nothing. Grossi, the head visited the plant and also had a meeting in Russia, yet the plant is still on the brink of a nuclear disaster. One wonders what use are these global alliances when they actually have zero power and don’t seem to do anything but hold meetings in the hope that Russia will agree to what they suggest.
Day 482 (20 June)
Russians who have deported Ukrainian children are calling themselves ‘temporary guardians’ as it is illegal to adopt. This is important as this is the war crime that the ICC has issued an arrest warrant for against mainly Putin.
The POW who were transferred to Hungary have not been permitted to speak to Ukrainian officials. Ukrainian officials have attempted to speak to Hungarian officials but it appears that Hungary has created obstacles. It is here that the EU, UN, and NATO should intervene, and the question is why not since it is a member of all 3 alliances that support the correct transfer of POW?
The European Commission (Peter Stano) has stated that Hungary must explain itself and its role in the transfer of Ukrainian POW to Hungary without informing Ukraine of the act
Three of the eleven POW appear to have been returned, but how has not been disclosed. Access to the other eight has been denied with no explanation.
In flooded Oleshy, reports claim that the Russians are deliberately disposing of any humanitarian aid sent to the area. Why? Is this a means of genocide to starve the people of food and medical aid?
The European Commission has said that Ukraine has met 2 of the 7 conditions laid out for EU membership (judicial reform and media law). The corruption issue is ongoing with arrests made daily as more government officials are found to have embezzled money or have taken bribes
.
Blinken has been on an official visit to China, where China has stated they will not send weapons to Russia for use in Ukraine. A promise from China is worthless because they will do what they want and make sure they won’t get caught, so the promise is not to be relied on.
Delegates arrive for the Ukraine Recovery Conference in the UK, where King Charles held a reception at St James’s.
Bulgaria’s new defence minister, Todos Tagarev has taken a different line in terms of supplying lethal aid to Ukraine than his predecessor. This is good news as the previous minister expressed reluctance to provide weapons to Ukraine.
Around 41 leading companies have pledged to help 250k refugee women training and jobs across Europe.
Day 483 (21 June)
The Ukraine Recovery Conference is held, and while useful it assumes that Ukraine will win. Ukraine must win, but in order to do so they need more weapons. Talking about the recovery is all well and good, but Ukraine is a long way off any such program.
During the conference, Latvia pledged to give Ukraine all of its helicopters, while other countries pledged long-term financial plans to aid the reconstruction of Ukraine. Andrew Forrest, and Australian businessman pledged $500 million to the fund.
Partisans damage a railway line in Crimea which was used to transport troops to mainland Ukraine.
Day 484 (22 June)
Russia claims that Ukraine has attacked the 2 Chonar bridges which links Russia to Crimea and Melitopol. The claim is that a British long range Storm Shadow missile was used, again, a threat aimed at the UK for providing the missiles.
The incident happened around 5:50am, but images indicate that the Storm Shadow was not responsible for the damage as the it is not in line with what a 450kg warhead would do.
Intelligence suggest that the Russians are preparing an attack on Zaporizhzia nuclear power plant even though the 6 reactors have all been shut down. Zelenskyy issues the warning to the world in his highly address, adding that the other countries need to do their part as radiation has no borders.
Plans to attack a dam Kryvyi Rih have also been revealed as a measure to slow down the Ukrainian counteroffensive.
In the UN, it has been reported that Russia has another war crime to be added to the list as it has used children as human shields, thus it has maimed and killed children.
Reports claim that Ukraine has requested John Kirby to visit Brazil, India and other countries that are skeptical about supporting Ukraine. The hope is that he can convince them to support Ukraine and not Russia.
A Russian representative has threatened Moldova in an occupied region of Ukraine. The comment threatened an attack on a bridge between Moldova and Romania, and this is when the war extends outside of Ukraine. Moldova condemned such a threat and has requested the Russian representatives in Moldova to explain themselves.
Zaporizhzia withount a doubt will be the next disaster far larger and more deadly than Chernobyl, it will take decades to to recover if at all, does mankind ever learn from the past, my heart bleeds, this is why history is so important, all i can say i am going into my golden years, and i can not understand why Putin's need for this special operation other than money, prestige and greed, IMHO he is just another dictator who will lead the world into another world war, when billions of people will die, will Putin care, no they say the eyes are the widow to the soul, Putin's eyes are like shark's nothing there, while the world looks on and does next to nothing.
It is preposterous of Putin to think, by declaring Russia a temporary "guardian" of the Ukrainian children, he will be absolved of this war crime.
