The 9th Anniversary Of Maidan ~ Freedom Day in Ukraine
Day 271 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine
Day 271 (21 November)
We are now in the 9th month of the war, and even Russians are admitting this is a war and not an operation. On Russian television commentators state that Kyiv and Kharkiv need to be wiped off the surface of the earth. It was challenged that it was wrong to bomb peaceful cities, and the reply was to make the citizens leave then.
Strikes have been aimed at fuel depots, and railways tanks. Last night in Makiivka in Donetsk, several tankers were attacked and caught fire. The motive is to deprive Ukrainians of fuel and energy so that they will freeze and possibly die. The Ukrainians are defending themselves with what equipment they have, yet what are the UN doing? They are more interested in sending grain to poor countries rather than saving people who are being attacked. The UN existed primarily to protect the world from wars and to act as a peacemaker, and not necessarily to feed countries that are poor through corruption and famine.
Evidence of torture chambers in Kherson have been revealed by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office. These include batons, bullets, and electrocution devices found in cells. The Russians deny any acts of torture even though there are multiple survivors and evidence of bodies that have been mutilated.
The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is again in danger of being damaged and causing a nuclear disaster. I don’t know how many times I have written this and all the IAEA can do is yell ‘stop shelling’, which has done nothing at all. It is doubtful that Ukraine would attack its own power plant that they need to supply energy to residents in the area, yet why would Russia attack a power plant with their personnel inside? This could be a false flag again to discredit Ukraine.
The Russians are targeting Luhansk again with 400 strikes in the area in one day. As winter approaches, conditions will become brutal and harsh.
Zelenskyy addressed the 68th NATO Parliamentary Assembly today in Madrid, to request protection of the nuclear facilities, namely the energy plants that the Russians are targeting. He also used reminded the members that NATO and EU membership would help Ukraine protect and retain its border to prevent another Russian invasion.
All our nations are interested and not having any dangerous incidents out of a nuclear facilities. We all need guaranteed protection from Russian sabotage at nuclear facilities.
We are due to support our applications for membership to the EU and NATO.
The Head of the Permanent Delegation of Ukraine to the Nato Parliamentary Assembly, Yegor Chernev has reiterated the need to set up a Special Tribunal to hold the Russians accountable for the alleged war crimes that are being investigated
Today is the ninth anniversary of Dignity and Freedom Day also called Maidan, and the Revolution of Dignity, where Ukrainians took to the streets to protest for their freedom and independence. The then president, Viktor Yanukovych opted to form closer ties with Putin, and rejected the plans to sign an agreement to join the EU for political and trade associations.
The date was 21 November 2013, yet Russia invaded Crimea and occupied the region on 20 February 2014, less than four months later, and the war in Donbas began in March 2014. These events were due to a corrupt president who has since been tried and sentenced for High Treason, and who is in exile in Russia.
Ukroboronprom has confirmed that is manufacturing 152mm shells, so at last Ukraine is producing some its own weapons.
At the end of November, in the city of Toledo in Spain a new training centre for Ukrainian troops will be active.
Spanish police will also join the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's office to assist in investigating the alleged war crimes committed by the Russians.
Germany had offered Poland the use of Patriot defence missile batteries to aid their air border defences, and Poland accepted the offer. The system will be located near the Ukrainian border.
The Italian government is seeking to pass a new law so that it can send a to Ukraine without Parliamentary authorisation. The current arrangements expire at the end of this year, and the new law will propose that these measures will be renewed to cover 2023. It looks like many parties have accepted that this war will continue into next year, and that legislation is necessary in order to supply training and weapons.
In Belgorod, a video has been made public showing two Russian soldiers being detained for refusing to go to the front line. The video is supposed to act as deterrent, but prison is preferable to dying in Ukraine for Putin
A former militant leader who led the uprising in Luhansk in 2014 has been detained by the SBU. His code name was ‘Sooty’ and he was found in Kyiv. The reason why it is important to unearth and detain the conspirators is so that they cannot pass information to the Russians and it stops the chain in the network of proxies who help the Russians.

Ex Libris, your anger and frustration with the impotence of the UN is understandable and warrranted: you are justified in asserting that the UN is meant to act as peacemaker and step in to protect nations from aggressors, and it's ironic that those they feed are victims of not just famine, but corrupt regimes. The Markles trivialised, even bastardised the true meaning and value of freedom,; hopefully like M.M. said we take ideals for granted, but countries like the Ukraine and people like the Ukrainians we admire because they 'walk the talk' and show us the importance of fighting for FREEDOM.
It is very wrong 'to bomb a peaceful country', especially when no declaration of war is made. Moreover, what 'crime' or offence, did Ukraine commit to legitamise the Russian invasion? If Russia is now calling the 'military operation' a war, what does does that mean?
