Reclaiming Crimea ~ 'This Russian War Began With Crimean, It Must End With Crimea...It's Liberation' (Zelenskyy)
Russians begin to flee the occupied regions for fear of being trapped
I was talking to some friends about the war yesterday, and even though most of the UK are basking in a heatwave and rushing to enjoy their holidays, we cannot underestimate how important the UK support has been to Ukraine. More so, because Boris Johnson made the move to support Ukraine without hesitation. By having a member of the G7 and UN Security Council on their side, other countries would have been obliged to follow suit.
In the UK, there appears to have been a coup to remove Johnson, for while he made mistakes and tough decisions, the people did not vote him out. The anecdote the UK Ambassador has shared has shown how the UK has made a difference, when a vendor gave her a coffee on the house because he appreciated what the UK has done. For those who are not familiar with warfare, the first few weeks are crucial and are make or break, which is why Crimea fell so quickly besides having inside help. Note that NATO offered no statement for 6 weeks, and the US hesitated for a month before it sent any weapons, Germany sent some helmets, and France decided to ring Putin to negotiate. The UK government sent weapons, and the citizens organised their own convoys to take supplies and medical aid to Ukraine. Poland did the same, but they are not members of the G7 or the UN Security Council.
Now that Ukraine has some decent weapons to defend themselves with, we can see a difference in the war. That is why Russia wanted the US and the West to stop sending weapons to Ukraine, and threatened those countries. Russians are fleeing the occupied areas, which indicates that they don’t have much faith in their own army, and each day, more spies and traitors are being caught and sentenced to prison.
The Ukrainians are fighting back, and they have the support of the majority of the free world behind them.
Day 168 (10 August)
American actor Steven Seagal visited the Olenivka prison yesterday where 53 Ukrainian POWs were killed. He is a Putin admirer, and was granted Russian citizenship in 2016, where Russia gave him a role as a special envoy to develop humanitarian ties between Russia and the US. Ukraine banned him from entering the country for security reasons in 2017.
His assessment is going to be biased as he is pro-Russian, and has claimed that in his opinion it was a missile and not a bomb that caused the deaths and damage. There has been no word yet if the Russians have allowed independent investigators access yet. Seagal also met with Denis Pushilin, the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, where Seagal is going to make documentary on the Donbas, stating that the world needs to know the ‘truth’. I think we already know that Seagal must be brainwashed, stupid, or a traitor to democracy.
In Novofedorivka, the Saki military base, in Crimea appeared to have experienced a series of explosions yesterday. I chose not to report on it last night as information was sketchy, and no one took responsibility for it or had an explanation for it. Today, there seems to be more information on what might have happened. The base has been used to launch attacks in Ukraine and is near the Sevastopol port, where the Russian Black Sea Fleet are based, who have been responsible for the grain blockade. The base is near a seaside resort that is frequented by Russian tourists. One civilian was killed and about a dozen injured.
The Ukrainians have denied that they had anything to do with the incident, while the Russians claimed that it was some ammunition that blew up.
The problem with that explanation is that there were consecutive explosions that would be inconsistent with ammunition blowing up. The explosions destroyed at least 9 aircraft (Su 34 bombers and Su-24 aircraft) and helicopters.
Zelenskyy made a reference to Crimea, that the war began with Crimea and will end with the liberation of Crimea.
When Crimea was annexed in 2014, Russia transported 1,000,000 Russians to occupy the land as Ukrainians had fled to safety. These Russians began to leave in droves last night as they fear for their safety, with traffic queues to get across the bridge. Reports claim that Russian military families in Kherson are also leaving as they begin to panic for their own safety. This was after the Antonivsky and Kakhovsky bridges were hit by missiles—they want to get out while they can.
Ukrainian officials have denied any involvement and state that it might be the work of the Ukrainian Resistance that they have no control over.
When asked to comment if the explosions were Ukraine carrying out a counterattack, one said, ‘You can say that this is it…’, while the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine posted a warning that people should be careful with fires and smoking…
‘The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine cannot establish the cause of the fire, but once again reminds of the rules of fire safety and the prohibition of smoking in unspecified areas…’ (As in a dropped cigarette or match can lead to explosions and fires!)
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine would like to remind everyone that the presence of occupying troops on the territory of Ukrainian Crimes not compatible with the high tourist season.
We can never forget Bucha, and yesterday there was a burial ceremony for the 15 bodies that cannot be identified. 458 bodies were recovered where 419 bodies had evidence of being tortured.
There is evidence that Russia is looking at Iranian drones and have begun training with them for potential use in Ukraine.
In Dnipropetrovsk, 13 people have died from shelling in Marhanets. There have been other attacks in Ukraine where there have been casualties. Most o these have been attacks in residential areas, and at night or early morning when people are asleep.
There are about 87 ships that are currently transporting grain stolen form Ukraine. The Ambassador in Lebanon (Ihor Ostash) states that there is a criminal ring, moving the stolen grain through Syrian and Russian vessels.
The Ukrainian resistance have attacked the headquarters of the United Russia Party in Melitopol, where they were preparing for the sham referendums
Speak of the Law of Unintended Consequences that I just mentioned in the SXS thread, how ironic if Putin's little plan for Ukraine cost him the Crimea! TC
While Ukrainians know and acknowledge the support of the UK, Russian citizens are being told the UK supports Russia.
