Putin Claims That Russia Has Lost 'Nothing'
Hungary and Turkey show resistance towards the West
Putin will never admit defeat like Hitler, so this should be considered when NATO and other world leaders choose how to support Ukraine. That is why a peace deal would be a stalling tactic by Putin, as Hitler did and as much as no one wants war, but that is what Putin wants. It’s all or nothing.
Macron has been heavily criticised for his appeasement stance, and even though footage of him speaking to Zelenskyy has revealed that is was Zelenskyy who asked him to speak to Putin, it doesn’t change the fact that Macron and France has not been as supportive as say Poland or the UK. Also, Zelenskyy has changed so much in 6 months, and discovered how many traitors there were under his own nose that he knows that speaking to Putin alone will not rid Ukraine of the proxies who would hide and attack again at a later stage. That was Zelenskyy of February 2022, a different man in September 2022.
Day 195 (6 September)
The NYSE invites Zelenskyy to virtually ring the Opening Bell. This is to encourage companies to invest in Ukraine. It is one thing to win the war, but the country also needs to be rebuilt structurally and economically.
The IAEA has called again for there to a safe zone around the Zaporizhzia NPP, yet Russia has not interest in the matter and continues to shell the area. Many citizens are looking to leave, and the Ukrainian government has told people to evacuate. This means if the government request a mandatory evacuation, they will supply citizens with housing, food, and fuel.
Russia at the UNSC claimed that the situation Zaporizhzia NPP was not serious I did not warrant any proposal to establish a safety zone or perimeter. Again, this shows that Russia has no intention of negotiating or accepting responsibility for attacks or damage to the nuclear power station.
A ‘Russian War Crimes’ exhibition has been held in Brussels, even though war crimes are still being committed each day. The purpose is to remind people of the atrocities and to urge the international community to convene a special tribunal in order to try these crimes, so that the victims can review justice, and the aggressors will be punished.
Zelenskyy was the first foreign head of state to speak to Liz Truss, the new UK Prime Minister. Usually it is the US President, but in this case it only seems right that it is Zelenskyy as the UK has been instrumental in supporting Ukraine since the start of the invasion. It s also important that Truss, as the former Foreign Secretary reassure Ukraine that the support will continue, and also optics wise it is important for Russia and the rest of Europe to know that the UK will hold its position and will not waver with a new leader.
As I said, Truss is the lesser of two evils and at least was on the same page as Boris Johnson when it came to the issue of Ukraine. That is why she was the better choice, as there is continuity, especially when it comes to the negotiation of freeing the British citizens who have been sentenced to death in Donetsk.
Day 196 (7 September)
Footage of Macron speaking to Zelenskyy on the first day of the invasion indicates that Zelenskyy requested Macron to speak to Putin and ask him to cease the war. Macron shook his head as he spoke, knowing that it was probably futile to speak to Putin. However, this does not let Macron off the hook for his comments stating that the world should not humiliate Russia. Since the 24th of February 2022, Zelenskyy has come a long way and probably knows that speaking to Putin would make no difference now with what he has discovered. Mainly that there have been many traitors within the Ukrainian government that have aided the invasion. Therefore, speaking to Putin would make little difference as there have been factions growing within Ukraine for a number of years.
Putin has been speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok where he claimed that Russia has not lost anything, and will lose nothing, and that Russia is coping with the economic aggression from the West namely the sanctions imposed against the country.
He also claimed that Russia should be able to decide where Ukrainian grain should be exported to, stating that the deal turn the blockade should be re-discussed and grain should not be delivered to the EU. He has stated that by invading Ukraine it has strengthened the Russian sovereignty, thus, this indicates that Putin considers Ukraine as part of the Russian Federation and that he will not stop this invasion unless he is taken out. The fight for Crimea will be bloody, and that is why Ukraine wishes citizens to leave.
Despite this, the EU has maintained they will implement an energy cap. Putin reacted by stating that Russia would halt supplies immediately.
We will not supply gas, oil, coal, heating oil – we will not supply anything if it went against Russia's interests.
Putin also claims that the Ukrainian government is an ‘illegal regime’ and was founded after 2014 in a coup when Yanukovych was removed from office when he handed Crimea over to Russia and then fled to Russia where he lives in exile. He has been convicted of High Treason and corruption in Ukraine, and acted as a puppet for Putin. It is believed the Kremlin assisted in his escape from Ukraine.
Dolphins are dying in the Black Sea and it is believed it is because of the Russian submarines that use sonar devices that harm the health of the dolphins. A case for ecocide has been lodged by the prosecutors of the specialised environmental prosecutors office in Odesa.
Russia has proposed an annexation vote in the occupied areas in Ukraine on the 4th of November 2022. They seem to be in a hurry to annex the regions as quickly as possible before the Ukrainians can de-occupy and liberate the territories
.
The EU's Baltic members have decided to restrict Russian citizens from entering the block via land and will implement legislation before the end of September
.
Warmate combat aerial drones have been delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 20 unmanned vehicles have been delivered so far and 20 more will be delivered shortly. These will help on the front line assisting the armies in liberating occupied regions.
Ukraine has hinted on their official Twitter account that Crimea will continue to experience explosions in order to de-occupy and force the Russians to leave.
Erdogan of Turkey has accused the West of provoking Russia. Again, I reiterate that Turkey cannot be trusted even as a member of NATO due to the alliances Turkey has with Russia. For this reason, NATO should be wary of involving Turkey in any future combat missions.
Hungary is the other NATO member of concern, and is also an EU member. A Hungarian geography textbook for school children has been distributed, claiming the war in Ukraine is a civil war (suggesting that Ukraine is part of Russia) and that Russia is not involved in the war. The text is anti-Ukrainian, claiming that the conflict in Crimea is historical ethnic conflict. Ukraine is a sovereign state as recognised by the UN, and this distortion of facts in an EU country is very wrong and this kind of action needs to be curbed immediately.
Obviously, this is Russian propaganda that should not be taught in a country that is a member of NATO and the EU. When will these two alliances actually do something, or create a charter to protect themselves before Hungary destroys what both of the alliances?
I take your point E-L, even as a member of NATO Turkey's President Erdogan cannot be trusted when he accuses the West of provoking Putin.
