Poland And Lithuania Under Threat From Belarus
Ukraine and the US discuss the terms of security guarantees
Russia continues to attack the grain ports and that will sadly continue as Russia is using grain as a bargaining tool again to blackmail the world. Ismail, a Ukrainian port on the Danube was hit as well as continued attacks on Odesa.
Poland and Lithuania are being threatened by the Wagner troops in Belarus as their troops move closer to the borders and reports claim that aircraft entered Polish airspace. Belarus denies it, but Poland shows proof of the incursion. Meanwhile, Lithuania and Latvia are looking to send Russians and Belarusians back to their countries citing that their presence is a security threat. Lithuania has 1000 Russians and Belarusians that they know of, and Latvia has written to 6000 Russian citizens asking them to leave Latvia.
This is how world wars spread out to other countries and if Belarus ‘attack’ Poland or Lithuania (as Wagner troops have been hired to fight in these countries), then it’s not Russia but Belarus that would be ‘attacked’ by NATO. It’s ludicrous to think that the EU has only just imposed sanctions against Belarus to prevent them importing ammunition and other military equipment!
Day 525 (2 August)
On 1 August 2023, in the village of Biaowoza, on the border with Belarus, residents claimed that 2 Belarusian helicopters flew over their village. Belarus claims that the Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters did not violate Polish airspace, despite photographic and video evidence.
Belarus claims this was a training exercise, and NATO has been informed of the incident. Others may see this as a test to see how NATO and Poland reacts and how far they can push things.
Ukrainian POW who were handed over to Hungary without knowledge of Kyiv were allegedly told if they returned to Ukraine, they would be tried for desertion or sent back to the front line.
Erdogan of Turkey has spoken to Putin to discuss the Black Sea grain deal and apparently Putin will visit Turkey. Turkey is not a party to the Rome Treaty and Putin will not be at risk of being arrested as per the ICC warrant.
More corruption in Ukraine as the SBU uncovers more schemes that permitted men to avoid being drafted claiming they were medically unfit. The problem is that Ukraine doesn't have a vast army and with men who don’t want to fight for their country, what will happen when there is no army left? The allies can still send weapons but who will be operating them?
In Russia, there are dissidents who have attacked army recruitment offices. St Petersburg was attacked again, which shows that there are some brave Russians opposing the Putin regime.
Ammunition supply is an issue, and the US has made deals with Bulgaria, and South Korea to supply ammunition, and are in talks with Japan to help supply ammunition too.
Iran is looking to build drone factories in Belarus so that Russian can purchase drones more readily. If the reports are true, then what is the UN doing about this? Nothing, because Russia holds a veto as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, ergo, the UN is not fit for purpose if it cannot enforce action to stop an aggressor circumventing sanctions,
Day 526 (3 August)
The Polish Prime Minister (Mateusz Morawiecki) met with the Lithuanian President, Gitanas Nausea to discuss how the presence of the Wagner group affects their countries and the potential threats posed.
Poland increases security at the Belarusian borders in light of the recent helicopters that violated Polish airspace.
We are all aware that Belarus today, in military terms is part of the reconstructed Russian empire, so these hybrid attacks on Poland, or certainly coordinated in the Kremlin, and our task is to prevent the destabilisation of Poland. (Mariusz Blaszczak, Polish Defence Minister.)
Wagner groups move closer to the Lithuanian border and Lithuania takes appropriate action.
The number of Wagner fighters stationed in Belarus already exceeds 4000. Part of them approached our border taking a position near Grodno city, meaning it is very convenient for a provocations at the Polish and Lithuanian borders with Belarus. (Gitanas Nauseda, President of Lithuania.)
Norway has been added as the 49th unfriendly states on the Russian list.
Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia signed an agreement to disconnect from the Russian power grid and to connect to the European grid.
Zelenskyy visits troops in Zakarpattia and soldiers in hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk.
Prigozhin linked firms receive state contracts even after the insurrection. The contracts are worth $21 million according to reports.
Romania is investigating whether Russian drones have landed on its territory. In the Ceatalchoil commune, reports claim debris was found near the Ukrainian border, but no official statement has been released.
Ukraine has developed de-mining machines that can disarm anti-tank mines and anti-personnel mines. Currently, two can be produced per month as much of Ukraine is mined causing harm and death to civilians and prevents the army in their counteroffensive manoeuvres.
Day 527 (4 August)
Lithuania has stated it will close two Belarusian border checkpoints citing security concerns since the Wagner troops have made the country their base.
Li Hui will represent China at the Saudi Arabia peace talks to be held 5-6 August 2023. Around 40 countries will gather to discuss how to implant Ukraine’s planned peace formula.
In Poland, at least one Belarusian has been detained for spying. This was inevitable as the war spreads to Poland and Lithuania. No matter what measures are taken, spies have already been active and have been waiting to be activated.
Poland has evidence that 2 Belarusian helicopters entered Polish airspace on 1 August and has called for Belarus to provide an explanation.
Ukraine and the US begin stalks on agreeing terms for security guarantees before Ukraine becomes a member of NATO.
Ukraine has been using sea drones to disable Russian military bases with some success. Novorossiysk and Sevastopol have both been attacked, despite Ukraine not commenting on the incidents.
Obviously the Polish and Lithuanian leaders must be very concerned about the Wagner troops in Belarus. If the Wagner troops attack Poland and/or Lithuania, NATO must finally act.
