Olenivka POW Camp Attacked In Donbas
The Ukrainian Resistance defies Russian attempts to occupy their land
The attack on the Olenivka prison camp, where more than 50 POW were killed appears to be another atrocious act by the Russians to ‘exterminate’ Nazis—the Azov soldiers who were captured in Mariupol. It comes on the same day that a video was released of a Ukrainian soldier having his genitals cut off as a method of torture. This kind of mass attack was not unexpected because we know the Russians wanted to impose the death sentence on the soldiers, but were going to be limited by the international courts and procedures that Russia usually ignores.
A Ukrainian attack is unlikely as they knew that the POW were being held in Olenivka, and the footage provided by the Russians doesn’t support their version of events. No Russians were harmed during the attack, and the only barracks attacked were the ones with the Azov soldiers who were moved two days ago.
The explosion looks as if the attack was inside the building rather than from outside, but as no one has access to the prison there can be no formal investigation. What was Russia trying to cover-up? Mass torture and executions?
The pressure in on the UN to declare Russia a terrorist state, but why does that matter? When a country is designated a terrorist state, or a state sponsor of terrorism, then it allows other countries to invoke specific laws against them. This may include a ban on defence exports and sales, and restrictions on financial transactions among the sanctions, some that have already taken place. This may also include a ban on trading with both people and companies in designated terrorist states.
Those countries that remain neutral and who have failed to criticise Russia will then have choose a side if Russia is declared a terrorist state, and their position in the UN Security Council and UN itself and other organs should be suspended. The world leaders have difficult decisions to make, but they need to do so without hesitation or fear of what Putin might do.
Day 156 (29 July)
UEFA is investigating the pro-Russian chants made during the Champions League qualifying match between Dynamo Kyiv and Fenerbahçe, where the Turkish fans chanted for Putin. The club, Fenerbahçe made a statement claiming they have nothing o do with the behaviour of the fans and that they should be not responsible or be punished as UEFA considers disciplinary action.
In Kherson, which is currently occupied by the Russians, the Ukrainians resistance is growing strong, very much like the French Resistance during the Second World War. They post signs that they will retake Kherson, and have taken their own measures by attacking the traitors and collaborators.
Like previous wars, the infiltration of spies has been going on for years and they must be rooted out before Ukraine can be free again. That is why Chernobyl and other regions were occupied so quickly—it had been planned from the inside by traitors. While no one approves of bombing the traitors, we are not in Kherson where it is a case of you or them where you are fighting to survive.
The partisans stay to fight to defend the land, they make life difficult for the Russians and make lists of the collaborators, and those who who have switched sides to support the Russians. There are humiliation tactics, outing those who have betrayed Ukraine, and the resistance gathers intelligence with drones. They will fight to defend Ukraine from within.
Balenciaga has designed a shirt in conjunction with Ukraine’s United24, where net profits of the shirt will be donated to help rebuild Ukraine.
The torture of Ukrainian prisoners of war continues as a video has been released where a prisoner was castrated by the Russians. I have not seen it, but the Ukrainian officials (Prosecutor General) have seen it and are launching a war crimes investigation into the incident
.
Dmitry Medvedev, a former president of Russia has called for the genocide of Ukrainians on his social media.
In Lebanon, a Syrian ship with stolen Ukrainian grain has docked in the port. It came from an occupied region of Ukraine and passed through Tripoli and was not detained. This creates diplomatic issues between the countries if Lebanon accepts the grain or if they do not detain the ship
Zelenskyy visited Chornomorsk to watch grain being loaded on ships, while a ship owned by a Russian company has been detained in Ukraine, under suspicion that the grain has been stolen.
10 ships loaded with grain are ready to depart and to be escorted through the Black Sea. This will be a test to see if all parties hold up to their part o fate agreement.
In Mykolayiv, cluster bombs have killed people in a residential area again.
Germany has pledged to send more weapons, some now and others to follow in 2023, assuming that the war will still be on. Germany has been criticised for their lack of response, and while the announcement is positive, 2023 is 5 months away. The war itself is 5 months old, so we can only imagine how much more damage will have occurred by the time these weapons arrive.
Like Hitler, Putin probably has an evacuation plan and this has been reported in the media. While there are claims that he is in ill health, which the Kremlin have dismissed, he is nearly 70 years of age and it is reasonable to expect some medical issues.
The Olenivka penal colony is a prison in the Donbas which holds Ukrainian POW. The barracks where the Azov POW were being held was attacked, and around 40-50 people have died with more than 100 injured. No Russian soldiers appear to have been injured during the attack.
Russia blames Ukraine and claims that they launched missiles and that they are responsible for the deaths.
Ukraine has claimed that it was a false flag, and that the Russians bombed the barracks from the inside to cover up the evidence of executing and torturing POW. From the few images released it appears that there is smoke on the inside consistent with a grenade being used inside rather than outside, and bodies are not scattered which would also be consistent with an air missile. Reports state that the Azov prisoners were moved recently, and by chance there were no Russian guards present when the ‘attack’ happened.
Ukraine will also list this as a war crime, and a violation of the Geneva Convention where POW have basically been set up to be murdered. The SBU have intercepted calls which suggest that the false flag attack was set up, and states that the prisoners were moved to a remote wing tow days earlier
.
This is sounding very much like the concentration camps during the Second World War, where prisoners were moved to separate them knowing that they would be gassed. Here, they were moved so that they could be bombed and set on fire. These are more atrocities that Russia are getting away with while the UN sits there twiddling their fingers and planning another meeting to discuss what to do.
The SBU claim that the Wagner Group (allegedly a private military group) was behind the attack as they were ordered to do so. Ukraine has urged the UN and the world to declare Russia as a terrorist state, especially as Russian embassies are still using social media to spread propaganda.
The self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic met with North Korea’s Russian Ambassador, and have invited the country to participate in the tribunal against Ukraine and the alleged mercenaries. This is an attempt to validate the sovereignty of the DPR, and also to legitimise the court proceedings
.
Blinken has spoken to Lavrov to discuss a possible prisoner exchange, and during the conversation, Blinken has stated that the US will never recognise any annexed regions in Ukraine. Biden also spoke to Xi Jinping yesterday, where China warned the US not to interfere with Taiwan. That was seen as a warning as the fragile balance between the superpowers in the world seems to be littered with threats, and where no one wishes to negotiate. Analysts claim that the Cold War succeeded because all the parties were open to negotiations. That isn’t quite true, because progress had been made over the years and with strong world leaders who were united in finding common ground. The situation is very different with Russia wanting to reform the USSR at whatever bloody cost.
Unfortunately, I do not hold out great hope for the U.S. to do anything, given our extremely poor and very weak leadership currently in place. Breaks my heart to be feel so impotent.
