NASA Criticises Russia For Propaganda
A Russian official is imprisoned for calling the 'special military operation' a war
It has been a confusing time in the world over the past 48 hours, with former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe being assassinated today, and Boris Johnson being left with no choice but to resign. Being a politician has always had its dangers that the people on the street fail to understand until a death occurs.
While there is a fight for the new leadership of the Conservatives, I have been listening and reading some of the reactions of others. Many people voted Conservative for Johnson because they knew he would get the job done, and they accepted he was flawed with scandals. To the electorate, it does appear that there were those in the party that wanted him out so that they could install someone they could control (like Major). Major should try and understand that no one cared what he said when he was PM and no one cares now.
Putin is increasing the pressure wherever he can and it was fortuitous that Boris has been ousted, and those who like a conspiracy may even wonder who/what was behind the pushing of Boris? The Cabinet think they have power, but forget that the electorate put them there and can take it away. From what I heard, some voters in the North have said those who rebelled against him (including their local MP) were wrong, and that they would not vote for that MP again due to their betrayal.
With Moscow putting their own officials in prison for using the wrong term (war, instead of special military operation), this is modern day Communism. How can that be better than democracy where you are imprisoned for the smallest infraction, or to have a difference of opinion. Is this what the pro-Russians in Ukraine want? If so, then they can move to Russia
.
Lavrov is in Bali, and seems keen to build up support from countries there. On the list of countries he met with was Turkey, and the usual China and India, but how innocent can that be? All these discussions keep going on, but the grain blockade has been like this for months now. The G20 and UN are more interested in poorer countries starving than the lives and liberty of the those being attacked in Ukraine. Russia doesn’t wish to negotiate until it gets what it wants. The question is, how many more lives will be sacrificed until this war is over and Ukraine can start to rebuild its country?
Day 135 (8 July)
NASA takes the unusual step to publicly criticise Russian astronauts displaying a flag symbolic of the recent Russian occupation of Luhansk in the self-proclaimed independent states of Donetsk and Luhansk called the Donbas. The Russians are now descending on the remainder of Donetsk, with a claim to liberating the region, where Ukraine and the West would call it an illegal occupation
.
In an interview, Zelenskyy has reconfirmed that Ukraine will not cede any territory to Russia in any negotiations.
At the G20 summit being held in Bali, Indonesia there have been calls for Russia to end the grain blockade. The EU has stated this is not a result of sanctions against Russia, but is because Russian vessels are blocking the exports trying to leave the Black Sea
.
Also at the G20 meeting, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov has attended and has met with China, Brazil, India, and Turkey. WE can deduce who is really supportive of Ukraine and who wishes to trade with Russia against the express wishes of Ukraine who have asked for strict sanctions against Russia. It is no surprise that NATO member Turkey is listed—will NATO do anything about this as Turkey is playing both sides it seems
.
The mayor of Kupyansk in Kharkiv has been detained under suspicion of treason. Hennadiy Matsehora is said to have betrayed Ukraine in the first week of the invasion
.
A Moscow official, Alexey Gorinov has been give 7 years in prison for calling the ‘special military operation’ a war and for speaking out against the invasion (knowingly spreading false information)He did not plead guilty. This goes to show how determined Russia is to contain the illusion that it is not a war, because a war would mean that allies would be justified in assisting Ukraine. His closing statement was accompanied by a sign saying, ‘Do you still need this war?’ The 60 year old man was applauded by Russians in the court room
.
“For five months, Russia has been carrying out hostilities, coyly calling them a special operation. We’re being promised a victory and glory. Why, then, are a large part of my compatriots feeling shame and guilt?”
“I am convinced that a war is the fastest way to dehumanization, when the line between good and evil fades. It is always death, I don’t accept it and reject it.”
Canada has recently repaired a gas turbine for Russia (Gazprom), and Ukraine is urging Canada not to return it as it comes under the sanctions agreed. However, Germany wants the turbine to be sent to Russia because they depend on the gas from it and want an exception to the sanctions to be made. The argument is Gazprom can channel gas through Ukraine and not Russia.
As you mention conspiracy theorists EL I have to say that on the issue of the toppling of our PM I guess I am one of those conspiracy theorists. There are quite a few “useful idiots” in our country capable of such treachery willingly, and also unwillingly if blackmailed or forced. And a large number of people/nations/organisations who would love to control us IMHO
