Indonesia Proposes A Peace Plan With Ukraine
Hungary posts a video with a map of Ukraine, but with Crimea as part of Russia
The war has reached another stalemate where countries around the globe during summits chip in with what Ukraine should do, and how they think peace can be achieved. The ultimate goal is to stop the war from spreading because they don’t want the expense of a war and it to affect their trade and economy. It is all about the money.
Indonesia is the latests country to come up with a peace plan—they seem to forget Ukraine has one and that is the one that counts. The Chinese feeble attempt of mediating and seeking a peace plan has been dismissed by other countries already, citing that a ceasefire is not a viable option for peace. Indonesia even suggested a ceasefire and for there to be a demilitarised zone of 15 km from the front line and fro disputed regions to hold referendums and a demilitarised zone to be set up.
Obviously there are uncalled for and ridiculous suggestions, and Ukraine has responded that there are no zones in dispute, but they are illegally occupied. History tells us that demilitarised zones rarely work out and end up being lands in dispute (see Cyprus) and exactly who will monitor this and pay for it? The UN doesn’t want to get involved and would anyone wish to participate in the peacekeeping mission knowing how dangerous it is?
Day 464 (2 June)
The Netherlands is considering purchasing new Leopard 1 tanks from Switzerland, but Switzerland has not commented on the potential sale.
Ukraine has stated it doesn’t expect to become a member of NATO until after the war and does not wish to drag other NATO countries into the war. That’s what they want to hear, but Ukraine must win the war first, but at what cost and how many lives will be sacrificed? The world will be paying for the reconstruction of Ukraine, and countries around the world are providing humanitarian aid in the billions already and the war is only really just starting.
At the IISS Shangri-la Dialogue (International Institute for Strategic Studies) a defence summit in Singapore, countries discussed the Ukrainian situation, and other global situations which included the China-Taiwan situation. The venue also served as a meeting point for intelligence agents, in particular they shared strategies on the Russian intelligence situation. The Ukrainian line is that they must win to restore peace in Europe.
The Estonian president, Alar Karis made an official visit to Ukraine and met with Zelenskyy. Estonia has been one of the biggest supporters of Ukraine and has pushed other countries to follow suit. The visit also reiterated the importance of a special tribunal to hold Russia accountable for acts of aggression, and that Estonia fully supports the establishment the tribunal.
Li Hui, the special Chinese representative appointed to mediate in the peace plan has claimed that there are lots of difficulties, but has not ruled out negotiations. What that means is that he can’t do anything, but pushes the Chinese peace plan that favours Russia.
The Chinese have alleged the war occurred due to failures of European security, failing to acknowledge that Russia started the war and it have nothing to do with European security.
The US Department of Defence has said it would purchase Starlinks for Ukraine, but would not reveal the cost of the quantity purchased. This comes after Elon Musk said he would no longer provide the satellite communications because the company believed they were being used for offensive purposes rather than defensive ones.
The Russian/anti-Kremlin insurgents have continued to cross over into Belgorod, and have attacked Russian forces there. What we have is Russians fighting Russians near the Russian and Ukrainian borders, and support for the groups seems to be increasing hence why they are publicly declaring their intentions and actions. The latest attack is in Tavolzhanka, where they have attacked the military depots

Day 465 (3 June)
Ukraine has been investigating the condition of bomb shelters finding that 20% were not suitable in Kyiv, leading to the deaths of some people during the recent missile attacks as some were locked. Ukraine wasn’t prepared for this war, even after Crimea and the Donbas for several reasons—money, they didn’t have the money for weapons, there was widespread corruption in government departments, and mainly because they didn't believe Russia would invade them after the Budapest Memorandum and the Minsk Protocols.
There has been further conflict in Bakhmut, with the Wagner group complaining that their units can’t leave due to Russian mines that have been place to stop Ukrainian troops from advancing. Meanwhile, the Wagner group invests in Russian propaganda by sending people to occupied areas and to set up news channels to report on the ‘win’ for the Russian audience.
Ukraine has condemned Hungary for a video they have posted showing Crimea as part of Russia. Allegedly, after Ukraine commented it was changed, but it doesn’t alter the fact that they had in their possession such a map which is incorrect and would be one that the Russians would have created.
Indonesia has presented a peace plan to Ukraine which has been rebuked. The plans included an immediate ceasefire (pointless unless troops leave Ukraine), troops to withdraw to 15km of the front line (again useless as most of the attacks are via missiles launched from other locations), and referendums to be held in the disputed territories.
There is a suggestion of a demilitarised zone to be created, but that never works out well and would the UN Peacekeeping forces be willing to control what would be a dangerous area? As it stands, the UN didn’t even want to go to Mariupol when it was under siege to help evacuate the residents trying to flee.
Ukraine responded that there are no disputed territories, but Russia has illegally occupied them by invading the country. The Indonesian plan sounds like the Brazilian plan to cede territory, and the Chinese one to call for a ceasefire. The US has stated that a ceasefire is unacceptable. With so many countries offering their solutions, the actual issue is that Russia doesn’t want peace talks unless Ukraine surrenders and agrees to all of their conditions. That is their idea of peace talks and negotiations.
Day 466 (4 June)
Missile attacks continue across Ukraine as they reply on intelligence from other countries to mount a counteroffensive. Ukraine says it is ready, and the US believes that the country is sufficiently armed, yet the media claims that they need more weapons. In a war like this, there can never be enough weapons.

In occupied Zaporizhzia, it is alleged that residents who refuse Russian passports will be refused medical treatment and medicines such as insulin.
The Russian anti-Kremlin groups continue their operations which has led to Russia having to send additional troops to the border along Belgorod, forcing Russia to redeploy their troops and facilities.
In Russia, reports claim that people wearing the Ukrainian colours of blue and yellow are being detained, as they claim that is supporting the enemy. This could lead Russia creating further restrictive legislation to further its propaganda against the West and Ukraine.
Unimaginable horror of sitting beside one's little granddaughter, who was killed by Russians while attempting to take shelter from them.
