How a one describe what is happening except that it is a frightful mess that could possibly been avoided if Ukraine had been permitted to join NATO back in 2008. Political careers seem to have taken precedence over what is best for the world and humanity and that continues today as we watch the US, France, Germany, and NATO afraid to say the wrong thing, and to say what they think will make them popular although they may not even believe what they are saying.
Some drones fell in Moscow and the Kremlin blames Ukraine, yet Ukraine denies they were behind the attack. This led to the Russians increasing their missile attacks on Kyiv, while the allies remained cautiously silent on who to blame. There is no evidence it was the Ukrainian government—it could have been Russian patriots, the Ukrainian underground, or a false flag to elicit a reaction from other countries.
Germany responded that international law permits Ukraine to defend itself (but opposes the use of weapons to attack), while the US gave a vague statement that they do not support attacks in side Russia. The UK said Ukraine has a right to go beyond their borders to prevent Russia forcing itself into Ukraine. While all the allies have said that they will not permit any weapons they supply to be used on Russian soil for fear of escalation, that doesn’t mean that Ukraine cannot use weapons to destroy military targets inside of Russia if those weapons were purchased by themselves from crowdfunding. The allies may frown on it, but what wold they do if their country was being attacked and people were dying each day?
There has been more talk of Ukraine joining NATO, where Macron has now decided that Ukraine should have a path towards NATO membership after stating that it wasn’t possible. hence the suggestion of the European Political Community for countries wishing to join. All countries were invited to participate except for Russia and Belarus.
Russia is rushing to Russify the occupied regions as quickly as possible and to deport Ukrainians in the regions to Russia, while Russian paramilitary groups align with Ukraine and seize border towns and cities declaring that they are trying to save Russia. People are dying while the politicians hold more summits and play a game of chess with their lives.
While some countries favour peace talks, most have stated that Russia must leave the occupied regions and also agree to reparations for the damage caused. I can only imagine such a scenario if Russia is defeated and they have no choice but to agree to those conditions, just as Nazi Germany had no choice to but agree to the terms laid out for a surrender. If Putin is ill as reported, then he won’t care about surrendering.
Day 461 (30 May)
Drones fell on Moscow, and Russia is blaming Ukraine. There were no deaths reported by Russia, only damaged some high rise buildings. There is no evidence that Ukraine launched the drones, and Russia has declared it a terrorist attack. Most of the drones were intercepted or ‘suppressed by electronic warfare’ when the explosions occurred around 4 am.
Putin claims that Ukraine is provoking then into responding with the drone attacks. However, it is Russia who has been attacking Ukraine and if the drones were Ukrainian, the world considers it an acceptable defensive measure. In response, Russia issued arrest warrants for: Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief, General Valerie Zaluzhnyi and Commander of the ground forces of Ukraine, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi.
In retaliation, Russia launched further attacks on Kyiv. The dead included children as scenes from Kyiv show people rushing to shelters. One was locked and a woman died from the debris in a house because they failed to get to the shelter in time. It is hard to explain, but the country has been at war and for people to try and carry on as if all is okay is part of the problem. In places such as Mariupol and Bakhmut, people do not have the luxury of carrying on and rushing to a shelter and Ukrainians need to accept their country is at war and that men have died fighting for the country.
Poland will stop Russian and Belarusian trucks, tractors, trailers and road trains from crossing the border from 1 June 2023 until further notice.
Russia has issued an arrest warrant for US Senator Lindsey Graham for his comments during his visit to Ukraine saying that Russian troops dying was money well spent. Graham replied on Twitter that they should try visiting the ICC in The Hague (which Russia is not part of of and will never be as they can be tried for war crimes).
"To know that my commitment to Ukraine has drawn the ire of Putin's regime brings me immense joy."
I will continue to stand with and for Ukraine's freedom until every Russian soldier is expelled from Ukrainian territory.
Finally, here's an offer to my Russian 'friends' who want to arrest and try me for calling out the Putin regime as being war criminals: I will submit to jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court if you do."
The anti-Kremlin paramilitary groups have declared they have entered Russian territory again with an aim to seize control of the border towns. They announce their actions so that Ukraine won’t be blamed and have stated they have been in Shebekino in the Belgorod region which is on the Ukrainian border.
Zelenskyy asks South Korea for air defence systems, citing that they are a defence aid and not classed as arms support.
Day 462 (31 May)
Actor, Misha Collins visits Ukraine and meets with Zelenskyy as he joins as a U24 ambassador. His visit is to raise awareness and funds for humanitarian de-mining operations in Ukraine.
Germany has decided to close four out for five Russian consulates in the country after Russian has limited the number of German officials permitted to work in Russia. Russian had set a cap of 350 German officials and Germany has responded by revoking the licenses of four Russian consulates.
The Free Russian Legion, one of the groups that is pro-Ukrainian and that has been crossing the borders to take control of border regions is recruiting on social media to ‘attack’ Russia in order to save it.
The OSCE has issued a report stating that it is difficult for families to find deported children in Russia. Reports from the Ukrainian Ombudsman also claim that Belarus has been used as a transit country for the illegal deportation of the children. Women who try and rescue their children have been detained and arrested. The West have declared this a war crime, yet has this actually stopped the deportation of children? I doubt the Russians fear a warrant from the ICC.
South Africa is considering changing its legislation to give diplomatic immunity to people who are wanted by the ICC so that they do not have to take them into custody. This is because Putin has been invited to the BRICS summit in South Africa, and Putin is keen to maintain ties with the African countries that are supporting Russia, even if they are abstaining in votes and claiming to be neutral.
The EU Parliament president, Roberta Metsola has stated that the drone attacks would not affect the EU support for Ukraine, so if this was a Russian false flag to try and stop the sump;y of weapons from the allies to Ukraine, then it failed.
Zelenskyy visits Odesa to discuss the situation in the south and to appoint new heads in the region since several had been fired.
The IAEA has presented a plan to protect the Zaporizhzia nuclear power plant and has asked both Ukraine and Russia to adhere to the agreements. There are 5 principles that are aimed at preventing a nuclear incident, but surely he must realise that Russia has no intention of cooperating hence why they are using it as a military base. The soldiers are cannon fodder and Russia doesn’t care about their lives.
In Luhansk, workers are told that they will not be paid if they do not have a Russian passport, and who have registered at a Russian bank. Staff in occupied Stanytsia have been told that they will not be paid unless they use the Russian bank, and in order to do so they must have a Russian passport. This is an attempt to force people to become Russia, and the Kremlin will use this as propaganda to tell the people that the Ukrainians wanted to become Russian.
In Yalta (Crimea) and Mariupol, Russians are either demolishing homes or is seizing housing by putting their military in homes if people refuse to take a Russian passport. Ukraine has said people who have been forced to take a Russian passport will not be punished as they understand it is about saving their lives first.
The Wagner group is using social media to recruit mercenaries, and medics to fight against Ukraine. Hopefully, the companies will put a stop to this, but it’s dirty money they are taking.
Day 463 (1 June)
The Czech Senate passed a resolution supporting Ukraine's accelerated membership into NATO. What has become clear is that security guarantees other than NATO membership will be ineffective against Russian warfare.
The first European Political Community summit was held in Moldova, barely 10km from Transnistria, the breakaway state held by the Russians in Moldova. It was attended by 47 countries, where discussions were held on EU expansion, NATO applications, and on the evidence of war crimes and how they could be preserved.
Macron was the one who suggested this as an alternative to countries pushing for NATO membership, yet he declared that Ukraine should now have a clear path to NATO membership.
Stoltenberg stated that Ukraine will become a member of NATO at a meeting in Oslo for foreign affairs ministers. However, Turkey and Hungary had not ratified the Swedish application to join NATO. The same countries that seem to want to have relations with Russia and where Hungary created obstacles for Ukraine in gaining funds.
All allies agree that Moscow does not have a veto against NATO enlargement'
On the drone attacks in Moscow, Stoltenberg for NATO has stated that Ukraine has the right to defend itself, quoting the UN Charter which permits countries to defend itself.
Evidence of war crimes are being deleted by social media platforms as AI automatically deletes them. When approached the social media companies said it was not their responsibility to preserve such material. Some outlets tried stating ‘war evidence , do not delete’, but AI doesn’t have the ability to understand that it is deleting evidence of a crime.
The Black Sea Grain Initiative has been stalled by Russia again as expected. This time they are refusing to register incoming vessels, which means that no inspections can take place.
Further attacks on Kyiv have resulted in more deaths, as Russia attempts to prevent Ukraine from receiving weapons and ammunition to defend themselves.
