Day 197 ~ Blinken Makes An Unannounced Visit To Kyiv
Belarus holds military exercises near the Polish border
We are approaching the 200 day mark of this war and relations between Ukrainians and Russians are at an all time low. How this could be mended who knows, and how long it will take before the wounds are healed. Ukraine is advancing in the counteroffensive to liberate regions of Ukraine from the occupiers. It will take time, and more weapons.
How all the world leaders choose to act will make a difference to the outcome of this war. They cannot afford to lose momentum. We can write off Hungary and Turkey as I stated at the start of this as reliable allies for democracy, but with the impending energy crisis that Russia has imposed, how will this affect the world and the decisions of the world leaders?
The concern right now is whether the Zaporizhzia NPP is a threat due to the Russians using it as a military base. Until the Russians leave, I fear that it will remain a source of concern in terms of a possible nuclear incident.
Day 197 (8 September)
Antony Blinken, the US secretary of state has made an unannounced visit to Kyiv where he has unveiled $2.7 billion of military aid to Ukraine and the neighbouring countries to help defend themselves from Russia. He will also hold meetings to discuss how the West can help Ukraine, and has met Patron the Ukrainian landmine sniffer dog.
The UN is finally visiting Olenivka, this is the prison colony where 50 Ukrainian prisoners of war were killed by an explosion. Russia claims that the Ukraine was responsible for the incident on 29th of July 2022. However, a long time has passed since the incident and any evidence will have been destroyed or removed. Therefore, what the UN will find is a cleared site, and any evidence of a false flag staged incident planted by the Russians will have been buried.
The US has provided Ukraine with GPS guided Excalibur artillery shells. These weapons can make the difference to the Ukrainian army, which is why Russia is anti-American and also demands that the West stop supplying Ukraine with weapons
.
Belarus is launching a series of military exercises near the border of Poland. Belarus is a client state and an ally of Russia. These military exercises are alleged to focus on assisting Russia to liberate territory that ‘has temporarily been seized by the enemy,’ according to the Defence Ministry of Belarus.
Baltic states in the EU will start to limit tourist visas for Russians from the 19th of September 2022. This is for security measures to prevent spies from infiltrating other countries or carrying out terrorist activities. This includes those with Schengen tourist visas.
A Ukrainian military chief has stated a ‘limited nuclear war’ cannot be ruled out. While the international alliances do what they can to prevent such an event the question is are they doing enough? Russia will not concede and allow a safety zone around the Zaporizhzia NPP, and that alone creates the danger. Therefore, the world should be prepared for the worst.
Norway is sending 160 hellfire missiles to Ukraine which includes guidance units night vision devices to help them defend themselves against Russia. In Lithuania are also sending 105 mm howitzers to support the Ukrainian army.
It is heartening to know that countries continue to supply weapons to Ukraine to help them defend themselves against Russia, and that they will not give up.
In Melitopol, Ukrainian resistance has blown up the offices of 'We are together with Russia '.
Berlusconi of Italy has offered to mediate with Ukraine and Russia with the aid of Angela Merkel. However Podolyak of Ukraine has dismissed this as neither of them have the authority or are relevant in this situation.
