Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group (ACA) Set Up By The EU, UK, And US
Donbas continues to be heavily attacked in order for the Russians to annexe the region
I woke up to headlines of more destruction—40 towns in Donbas that were attacked, many that have been scorched. At the same time, the world looks at another school shooting in the US, where a teenager was able to buy an assault rifle and then murdered 20 people. As humans, we should be questioning why humans wish to kill others with no actual reason. We have enough death from diseases and illnesses, yet there are ways to prevent such occurrences, but there seems to be a fear to do so by those in power who don’t wish to ‘rock the boat’ with their benefactors or to alienate the activists who want their freedoms at any cost.
What do we see from the international alliances? They seem to be setting up more inquiries, and groups to advise, discuss, and investigate war crimes, and ways to rebuild Ukraine, and how to support Ukraine. The uncomfortable truth is that this is to stall the inevitable, and they know what that entails for that is the only way to defeat Russia unless they surrender.
The Ukrainians want their country back—it is quite simply, they want the invaders out. Zelenskyy has criticized Kissinger’s remarks at Davos, where the latter suggested appeasement by Ukraine handing over Crimea to Russia as a solution to end the conflict. Europe is now divided, with countries like the UK, Poland, and the Czech Republic who support Ukraine in defeating Russia to preserve democracy in the region, where you have France, Italy, and Hungary who want a quick ceasefire at any cost (to Ukraine) to end the conflict.
Appeasement is not a solution to defeating the Russians, or to stop them from invading Ukraine again, or any other sovereign state.
Day 92 (26 May)
NATO countries are beginning to form an alliance to counter the Russian blockade in the Black Sea that is preventing the export of essential goods around the world. This appears to be based on self-interest now as there is a fear of a world food shortage, and where food prices have risen due to the blockade.
It is amazing how fast countries can act when an event affects them personally. Discussions including sending warships to protect the Ukrainian freighters, rather than to be seen as an offensive measure as that would signify the dreaded ‘escalation’. The US has also said it would send long-range missiles to ‘take out’ Russian ships if necessary.
The Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group has been set up by the EU, UK, and US to support the investigations into war crimes. It will support the War Crimes Units of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine who are investigating and prosecuting alleged war crimes.
Israel has stated their neutral stance again as they have rejected a request to approve supplying missiles to Ukraine. Germany wished to send Spike anti-tank missiles to Ukraine (as Israeli technology is used and they hold the license) but Israel has refused to agree to the request.
A petition to introduce visas for Russians to enter Ukraine has received support from Zelenskyy. Previously, it allowed visa free travel, but since there have been moles and traitors who have enabled the Russian invasion, it is only wise as a defensive measure to monitor who enters Ukraine.
The Eurovision winners, Kalush Orchestra are raffling the Eurovision trophy, where the donations will go towards helping the Ukraine defeat Russia #StefaniaForUkraine.
In the Donbas region, there are 25 Russian battalions that have encircled the region. Luhansk reports that they have had to bury civilians in mass graves the police are issuing death certificates. This war began in 2014, after the annexation of Crimea and where pro-Russian separatists took control of areas of Luhansk and Donetsk. It was only a matter of time before these separatists were going to assist Russia to try and take control of the area.
Severodonetsk and Lysychansk are being encircled to trap and block four Ukrainian battalions. That is why these towns are being hit so hard, then the Russians will take town but town, just as the Germans did as they invaded Europe during the Second World War. Like an untreated cancer that spreads, if you don’t stop them, then they will carry on invading.
Russia is trying to implement a new law that will allow the state to take control of businesses that try and leave Russia. Those that have already have taken a financial loss, and have still paid their employees in Russia. This move is to make it difficult for companies to leave Russia, with state intervention claiming it threatens jobs and industry in the country. Sanctions are slowly beginning to make a difference, and Russia is taking measure to retaliate.
I agree with E-L, it IS amazing how quickly countries act when events affect them personally. Amid all the "talks", NATO countries which fear a world food shortage talk about protecting freighters carrying Ukrainian grain as well as Russia making it difficult for companies to leave Russia. Good to see President Zelensky rebuke people in the west who suggest he should cede control of any area of Ukraine to Putin's Russia, when Ukrainians want them out. Hear that Henry Kissenger!!
